12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Deep, transparent orange. Really cool to look it. One finger head and beautiful lacing all the way down.

S: Rye bread, piney, citrusy

T: Similar to the smell. Rye, pine, pepper. Bitter in the end.

M: Very crisp but dry. A bit chewy.

Overall: I love this beer. SN's winter and spring seasonal brews are amazing

Comes out looking like deep UT orange with a slightly off-white head.

The namesake rye is right up there in the aroma. Basically rye bread. Then some citrus and floral going on.

Not really all that bitter at all. Lots of rye character to this. A little piney and citrusy. Medium, smooth, and dry.

If you want to know what rye is like in a beer this will show you.

Appearance: Pours a fairly transparent caramel amber brown color…a thin layer of off white, tiny bubble head formed and remains…nice lacing…(3.75/5)

Smell: Tons of peppery rye up front…floral hops bitterness, citrus, cereal grains, pale malts…very well rounded aroma…(4/5)

Taste: Much like the nose…peppery rye up front and throughout…pale malts, cereal grains and some hops bitterness coming through in the middle phase…finish has subtle citra hops flavor…it’s got a nice sweetness about it…very drinkable and flavorful…(4/5)

Mouthfeel: Light body with light carbonation…watery, crisp, refreshing…finishes with a mild spicy bitter dryness…(3.25/5)

Overall: A very sessionable brew…it’s got nice peppery flavor that’s complimented perfectly by pale malts and cereal grains…I was surprised to see that the citrus flavor involved here comes from citra hops, which seems to be infecting every new or seasonal beer coming out right now…no sign of the 6.6% ABV, a credit to the brew’s dynamic flavor…this beer has grown on me since I opened it and I’m glad I have another in the fridge…I found the flavor to be more abundant and peppery as it warms…yum! It pours a slighlty hazy copper with a light tan head. Head retention is excellent and the lacing is very nice after the head flattens out a bit. It smells grainy and spicy with strong notes of pine and citrus. The taste is citrusy, piney and bitter. The finish is bitter with some nice peppery spice from the rye. It has a nice crisp clean mouthfeel with a bit too much carbonation for my liking. Highly recommended.

Pours off copper in color with an inch head that has nice lacing. Pine smell with some spice. Hops up front that are pine and some citrus some bitterness. Its well balanced and has some rye and spice mixed in. A Good malt character, Medium body and a bit dry. A good one. Thought it would be more rye but what I got is good.
