Hazy dark copper color with decent head and spotty lacing.

Toasty, grainy, and spicey malt dominate the scent with only the slightest trace of citrus hops.

The hops pop a little more in the taste and there is some pine resin in addition to the citrus. Peppery rye finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, if not a little thin.

It's an ok rye pa. SN has done much better, though.

A very pleasant beer! I could make this one of my standard go-tos.

A- Rich and dark amber. The head was a nice toasty tan and lasted forever! The lacing was significant.

S- Hoppy, smooth (if you can use that word for smell... but it just seemed to have a "smooth" aroma), nutty. I couldn't sense any floral or citrus, but then, I've not been too good an those scents.

T- Toasty! Not cloying, but rather "full" flavored without being too bitter. Just enough of a bitterness to let you know you're drinking a beer worth drinking. Nutty. I couldn't tell a difference from it being a rye, though.

M- A slight sharpness of the carbonation. A little more than I prefer. But it's countered very nicely by its richness (without being too much so). Not at all chewy, and not not of an aftertaste (good).

355 ML poured into a tulip

A-- Poured a darker orange amber color, quite clear looking. One finger light brown head. Holds it's shape and body quite well. Settled down to a good layer of film leaving a nice looking ring of lacing in the glass.

S-- Rye really stands out in this. Lots of spiciness in the nose. Bits of orange and grapefruit compliment the nose along with a decent malt sweetness backbone.

T-- Spicy and earthy orange followed by a bit of earthy grapefruit. It is the rye that stands out in this. Just enough bitterness that makes this interesting and gives it a ZING.

M-- Creamy with medium body and medium carbonation. Slightly metallic and pine bitterness in the mid and back but not all that bad really.

O-- Pretty much beer my stand by beer for the last two months. Quite enjoy the beer as the rye really makes this work. Holds up better than other US IPA's that make the trip here. Good beer to have several of in a night.

Another great offering from SNBC

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours light brown with fluffy white foam. Lots of lacing.

Piney grass smell with hints of rye. Taste is a full balanced hoppy IPA with rye flavor throughout. Bittering in check. Bready.

All flavors perfectly blended. Great.

Bottle purchased from the Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

Pours a reddish amber hue, with a fine tight head of palest orange. Some specks of lacing, but certainly not a consistent lace or sheeting pattern. Solid body which holds large-bubbled carbonation when tilted. Overall, it looks pretty good. I particularly like the colour.

Nose is oddly, flatter than I expected. Some mild old orange rind characters, with a touch of earth wholesome spice, but not a huge amount else. There's something minerally to it: giving a salt or iodine quality. It's certainly interesting, but not as impressive as I'd hoped.

Interestingly, the rye forms the basis of this beer much more than I thought it would. Instead of just providing a counterpoint to the hops, the main thrust is the spicy rye sourdough character. There are some pellety hop notes, but they're mingled and hidden by the rye almost to the point where the two are indistinguishable. There is some bitterness on the back, but not a lot of clear or classic hop characters.

Very decent. It's certainly not what I expected. This is more of a rye beer and less of an IPA, but that's more exciting. It's different and interesting, and forms another different entry into the SN range.
