Poured from a bottle into a nonic pint.
A - Clear reddish-brown with an off-white, two-finger, sea foam like head. Prevalent lacing.
S - Lots of caramel malts, and west coast hops from which I am getting both earthy and piney notes.
T - Begins with caramel malt sweetness, but almost immediately wiped away by an aggressive hop profile starting in the mid-palate. Malts are bready, with notes of toffee. Hops are earthy and herbal, but also floral and piney as well. Hints of tobacco and mint in the finish, along with some perceptible alcohol warmth. Pretty well balanced overall, but again the hops take center stage.
M - Big and chewy, with prickly carbonation. Works pretty well with the flavor profile.
O - Pretty decent for the style, although I have seen it done better (Ballast Point Tongue Buckler comes to mind) but a good addition to the Beer Camp craft pack nonetheless. Would gladly drink again if someone handed me one, but probably wouldn't seek this out.
