750ml corked & caged bottle into a (512) Anniv3rsary goblet.

Classy-as-all-hell, the packaging is immaculate. The appearance doesn't quite live up to the bottle, as the apple juice golden body is thin and spritzy. An off-white head retreats all too quickly to a scant ring of foam. The aroma turns things around easily, with a delicate, Brett-rich nose of white grapes, apple skin, musty barn, and hints of cut grass and malty nuttiness.

The flavor cuts across the palate sharply with an effervescence that leaves behind note of apple rinds and tangy, musty Brett in its wake. Not a lot of depth to the flavor yet, and the overall palate comes off as largely disconnected from the aroma--something Russian River wilds rarely do. Brux rolls across the tongue in a sea of large, unruly bubbles that seem to multiply as the sip lingers. Unfortunately, I was not all too impressed with this release. Unfortunate because I love both brewers, and unfortunate because this may be one of the only times a Russian River beer with be available on the Texas shelves...hoping that Brux gets better with a little age on it.

Brux. Domesticated Wild Ale. ~8% ABV. 750ml bottle - corked. Sierra Nevada - Russian River collaboration. Couldn't resist grabbing off the shelf.

A - Foggy golden tainted with orange, soapy white head that dissipates rapidly, heavy carb.

S - Pear, wild yeast, hints of lemon, white wine like.

T - Like bitting into a crisp apple-pear, semi sweet but finishes dry, some spice rises thru the carbonation - lemon peel like. Easy to drink - although none of the flavors really stand out - kinda blah.

O - Pretty well balanced - Clean - Crisp, Base of the beer seems to be missing - relying solely on the Brett for flavor, not worth the price tag.

Bottle into a tulip glass.

A- Hazy gold color with lots of white thin head

S- slight alcohol scent, grassy, slightly fruity

T- Very dry, Brett upfront, toasty, slightly fruity aftertaste

M- a bit light, somewhat slick, and heavily carbonated

I liked it (I'm a big fan of brett beers) but I should have saved this one in the basement. I think in a few years time the taste should improve (ideally the fruity character will increase) and the carbonation should decrease.

got this bottle from a beer rep

A: small head, whiskey color

Smell: bourbon, funk, farmhouse, alcohol

Taste: whiskey, acidity, slight tart, vanilla, barrel

Mouth-feel: Over carbonated still, rolls down the tough nicely but an acidic burn going down

Overall: Not too impressed considering the breweries that made this brew.

30 minutes later, these brew has really opened up. The flavors complement each other perfectly. THIS BEER IS FOR AGING!

A: Served in a tulip glass. Vibrant cloudy orange color with a one finger head that quickly disintegrates into nothing.

S: Tart and spicy. Alcohol notes are there, but don't overwhelm. Clean and floral. Cherries and oranges.

T: Sweet and tart. Sweet in the front, tart and funky in the finish. Hops are subdued, hardly recognizable. Grain lingers on the back of the tongue. Great taste...very unique.

M: Medium-light body with average carbonation. Really has just the right amount of body for this flavor combination.

O: Good beer. I am not overly familiar with this style, but I like it. Head and retention were basically not even there. Wine-like feel to the entire beer experience. I like it, but it didn't floor me.

Poured into Chimay chalice. Poured a hazy orange-yellow color with just a thin cap of off-white head that had no retention or lacing. The aroma had a nice grain base with just a mellow tartness around the edges and a nice yeast scent.

The taste was the same, a nice grainy, yeasty base beer (sort of Saison-like) with some mild tartness around the edges. The body was decent, thinner than I had hoped for, but crisp and dry.

Drinkability was good, the beer was fairly smooth. Overall, a very nice brew. I suspect they made this beer to be a bit more approachable to a wider customer base, so it isn't the big funkster us geeks might wish it was. Certainly worth trying if you see it.

A collaboration between Sierra Nevada and Russian River? Sign me up! Tall 750ml caged and corked bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne.

Pours a clear, bright, slightly coppery golden colour, with a fizzling head that froths at first, and the subsides to a very mild ring. Body is fine, slippery and light, holding some minimal carbonation. No lace. It's actually remarkably unassuming, and much less exciting than I thought it might be.

Nose is better. Definite earthy Brett tones, apple skin, sweet sugar toffee, fairy floss, some banana leaf. But it's actually much more subdued than I expected. There's a hint of funk, but no more, and certainly no wild acidity. I'm a little bit surprised and a little unenthused.

Taste is similarly subdued: in fact, perhaps even more so. There's that sugary sweetness coming through again, more toffee, laced with just suggestions of earthiness, some faint horsey tones, and some cherry- and apple-skin on the finish. Feel is exceptionally light and thin.

Overall, I'm massively unimpressed. This is tame, dull flat and uninteresting. Holy crap this needed something more: it really is lifeless. It ends up "domesticated" to such a degree that it's insipid, weak and unable to fend for itself in the wild.

Standard 750 ml. bottle, corked and caged. Poured into a Belgian globe glass. The bottle offeers a firm pop yet doesn't burst at the seems as I for some reason expected. The pour is a deep golden with a half inch cap.

Interesting aroma with a touch of Brett and a touch of Tripel yeast battling things out. Offers an intriguing yeast profile yet without the singularity. Touch of funk, touch of sweetness and a touch of mystery.

Flavor is a bit simple, particularly with regards to the aroma. Touch of yeast and spice, bit average.

Ditto the feel on this one.

Overall a bit pricey for an 'ok' brew...

Pours a lovely, hazy, bubbly golden amber with a fairly thick pale golden-tan head that quickly vanishes. Aroma is strong and fruity, more like a cider than an ale, but has a malty undertone. Malty flavor has a firm fruity note, mainly apple with hints of pear and banana, and just a hint of horehound. Texture is very fizzy, though a bit on the watery side. Finish is none too strong. Overall, not too shabby. Can you tame this one?

From a bottle dated 7/19/12. The label says it should age well for several years. I heard it was really wild when first released. I t definitely calmed down. It has a funky Band-Aid taste.

Poured from bottle into a snifter.

Almost no head and what was present quickly faded to a thin white rim and then almost nothing. Slightly cloudy burnt orange appearance.

The nose reminds me of a homemade dandelion wine that my grandfather would get from one of his patients back in the day. Smell makes me think that this is going to be pretty funky.

First taste is a bit disappointing compared to the nose. It isn't the funky beast that I was hoping for but it isn't bad. It's actually pretty mild and balanced with dried apricot notes blending with a Belgian style yeast.

Finish is mildly dry. Not as dry as expected after reading the bottle.

Perfect beer with this sharp cheddar cheese. Overall it was a bit disappointing but not a bad beer.

Hard to say it even has a head, all loose bubbles which evaporate even during the pour leaving nothing across the surface nor any lacing. That said, the carbonation could not be more aggressive visually, a maelstrom inside the glass, the liquid a light amber to rusty yellow color, clear and without any haze. The nose comes across as reluctant to share, starts to unfold and then pulls back, you kind of get half-offered yeast, matted field grasses, dried orange peels, uncracked peppercorns, dried apples and peaches, dried honey, are you getting it seems dried yet, truly not that funky and, as a result, maybe not as lengthy as it might be otherwise. Full-bodied, the high level of carbonation evident with each sip, churns inside the mouth, no settling down. Allowing for this, the sourness comes through crystal clear, some barnyard funk to animal fur accents. Lots of lemon, orange, grapefruit citrus but the texture dries it out even as there is indeed underlying juiciness. Attenuated apple, pear, peach fruit, the pepper and cut grass to hay fare better. What it lacks is decisiveness, decide who you want to be and go for it. Instead you get a dialed back version of a distinct personality.

Hazy, and honey colored in the glass, Brux
features a minimal head that provides sparse lacing. Difficult to put a nose on this one. Slightly fruity, bready, and with a touch of brettanomyces. A wide range of flavors splash across the pallet. Hints of pear, caramel, green apple, funk, grass, pepper, and alcohol were all noticeable, as well as a few flavors we couldn't put our tongue on. A higher level of carbonation meets a medium body in this brew. Not overly sour, but a nice tartness that should develop over time, and luckily we have one stashed in the cellar.

A: A slow pour produced a billowing 4 finger monster of white mushrooming foam. A coppery colored body is filled with a explosive nature of effervesce. Head retention is remarkable, a slow crawl.

S: Nose of soft green pear, the wild and musky side is rather tame, some soft lemons, green apple skin is at best of low awareness.

T: Flavor is sweet malt and lemons, musky pear fromt the yeast, a touch of dry cola with a sweet spiciness of caramel and citronella. The wild brett is not so wild being bottle fermented and not open fermented. Tame, appreciable but not for the die hard brett fan.

M: Bubbly strong carbonation is detected on the tongue, crisp nature, turning frothy with a light to medium body mention.

O: Overall smooth drinking wild, though some die hard musky barnyard belgian fans will find this rather a bit relaxed. Was expecting a bit more ommph from the brett and flavor from russian river. Average regards 82 would be my vote.

Light and crisp, mild but suitable carbonation. Pine hops apple and citrus in the nose, slightly bready. Heavy Yeast flavor and Lots of bretts Which makes it sweet and tart. Refreshing and no booze. Flavor a bit underwhelming. Very reminiscent of liefmans gudenband.

750ml bottle poured into two belgian style glasses

Pours fairly clear (until the bottom of the bottom) straw golden with a slightly brassy tint, medium-large head, lots of carbonation. Smell is extremely muted (but I do have a cold -- even so, I can usually smell *something*). I get something mildly sweet and fruity. My wife gets something "like Belgian yeast".

Taste is also fairly mild, slightly sour, slightly spicy, slightly earthy, some banana.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Overall, it's not bad. Flavors and smell are good, but so incredibly muted. I'm not a huge purveyor of the American Wild Ale style, so I don't have a lot to judge it against, plus I have a cold so...take my opinion for what it's worth.

Had this one a while now, time to give it a try.

Appearance. Pours a nice orange gold with two fingers of foamy cream coloured head.

Smell. Woody and vinous, some light orchard fruits and fruity yeast phenols.

Taste. Vinous again with a bit of light orchard fruits, a bit of sweet malt and those fruity phenols I was smelling.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, strong carbonation.

Overall. Not a bad brew, but I wouldn't buy another bottle.

Bought at M&R liquor in avon, ct a day prior. Corked and caged 750ml brown belgian bottle.

A less than careful pour creates a 1/2 finger tall cap of loose foam.Lackluster and ephemeral, the head completely dissipates within 30 seconds leaving an enticing translucent light golden orange body. Numerous pillars of medium sized bubbles are a testament to this brew's lively carbonation.

A quick whiff reveals clementine, orange zest, bready yeast, some light malt, hints of earth, white pepper and funk. The aroma is a bit reticent, I like it when a beer makes it clear what I'm in for right when I pop open the bottle.

Orange zest and lemon zest are the first to the party followed by crackery malt, earth, grassy hops, a restrained sour twang, dirty, bretty funk and a bit of peppery spice to round out the long, dry finish. Yeahhh! Nice! An excellent sipper for sure.

Lively carbonation, a thin to medium body and a wonderful dry finish make this a damn enjoyable brew.

It's hard to pin down. The head is disappointing and no one flavor really stands out. Does it live up to the brewer's intent? Absolutely. Is it enjoyable to drink? Hell yeah.

Overall, I would drink it again even if the cost of entry is a bit high. Go ahead, give it a shot! I'm sure you've spent money on worse things haha! Cheers!

Poured into a tulip.

3.0 A: Clear light orange color. Two plus fingers of foamy white head. Retention is below average and no lacing is left.

3.5 S: Pear, light lemon, and apple fruits. Mustiness with cobwebs, dry wood, and old socks. Grassy with hay and wildflower herbalness. Pleasant with good funk and aromas, but needs more power and depth.

3.5 T: Lots more funk than the nose let on. Pear and red apple are the strongest fruits, but pear reigns supreme. There isn't much lemon in the taste. The mustiness is there, but most of the funk is herbal in nature. In fact, it's too herbal. It has a bitterness that can only be described as an "herbal bitterness," like if you just gnawed on couple spoonfuls of oregano or something. This is pretty damn dry. Anyway, lots of brett character for how young it is.

3.5 M: Lighter body. Carbonation is a bit explosive in the mouth, but it's just barely this way. For the most part I don't have trouble drinking it. Spritzy, but not creamy. Not bad.

3.5 D: It's good, but the existence of Orval assures that I won't need to buy another bottle of this, though I wouldn't mind seeing how this ages. Give it a try.

Aged for nearly two years, finally decided to uncork this bottle and try this collaboration between Russian River/Sierra Nevada.

Poured from bottle to glass, you can tell the beer has a really nice golden color with hints of orange. It's also just a bit cloudy. The beer is highly carbonated which helps open up the palette once it hits your mouth. There's a really light white head that is nice.

The beer displays some tart notes but it is crisp. There are hints of lemon and other zesty elements. It's a nice sour. Not the best I've ever had but I enjoyed it!

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass. Pours a cloudy orange yellow, with a one inch bubbly white head that disappears very quickly, leaving no lace at all. Smell is grapes, musk, champagne, and clove. Taste is all of those things, loads of flavor, not my favorite style. Body is thinner than I expected, lots of carbonation, not crazy dry for this style, and easy drinking all and all. This is a good beer, not my thing normally, but a nice change from my normal hoppy beers.

Poured from 750 into snifter

Cork Flew out of bottle and Hit the ceiling!!

Appearence: Very Effervescent. Very thin head but im fine with that. Nice orangeish color. Very nice looking

Aroma: Pineapple, citrus, room temperature fruit aroma. Little funky, Slightly Spicy, Great Aroma.

Taste: Very clean for Brett Conditioning. I like the stage the Brett is in now. Once they get super sour I dont like This style nearly as much. But The Brett Complexity is Very Nice. As it warms it becomes more fruity and Dry Very Nice

Mouthfeel: Dry sort of Fungis feeling. Strange but dig it

Overall: Very good Beer. I very much like to stage I was able to try it at. Maybe Ill find some more and Age it.

A: Rich honey body, little head but that's not unusual for a bret beer.

S: Soft but pleasant bret sharpness. Some sweetness and barely ripe fruit plus citrus.

T: This beer is a battle: sugar vs. bret and both are losing. The base belgian style is a little too sweet to integrate fully with the tart and mild funk of the brett. I'd say dial down the sugar to begin with or up the spontaneous character. Finish is lingering sweetness that dare I say, somehow reminds me of a Vienna lager.

M: Fine, nice

O: Overall I love the collaborative spirit but this beer is not greater than the sum of its parts. Sierra and Russian River are better than this.

A: amber gold with a quick head; no lace

S: lemony, grassy, musky

T: earthy, grassy, watered down lemon, tangy bitter yeast and hops

M: crisp, slightly astringent, bitter, chalky

O: never had a wild ale - reminded me of a more bitter, drier saison or biere de garde; also had some champagne-like qualities, but without any sweetness. so I don't know how it stacks up to the style, and it may be that I'm not partial to the style (although I do enjoy saisons and the like). I also drank it fresh, though I understand its character will age and improve. It went well with food, but I wasn't as fond of it without an accompaniment.

A: Pours a hazed copper/orange color. At first a two finger white head forms, and gently recedes to nothing. Not much lace is left behind.
S: Plasticy, phenolic Brett yeast. Cracked pepper, biscuit/doughy malts. Citrus and tart lemons.
T: Follows the nose. Phenolic, funky yeast. Peppery spice. Biscuit malts and tart tangy lemons. Finishes very dry.
M/D: A medium body that is very crisp and dry. Not hard to drink, the bottle is enjoyable. Don't know if I would purchase another though.

Enjoyable enough. The Brett is really apparent and makes this a little to phenolic and plastic for my tastes. Still worth a try.
