12oz bottle into Duvel tulip. From the 2012 beer camp pack.
Appearance: Free pour yields a 1 inch fluffy white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a little residual lacing. Pours a hazy copper-ish orange and leaves arches and spots of lacing.
Smell: Floral (as advertised, but low impact), with greenhouse pungency and pine. The latter dominates the floral, but it also smells very good. Some bready malt in the background. Slight lemony note. Mostly a Torpedo-like pungency and pine.
Taste: Still pungent and piny up front, with some nice floral notes coming up early and through the middle, leading to a hit of mild hop bitterness and really dry finish. Indistinct malt flavors are detectable but not playing much of a role (they're a little sweet, a little toasted-like).
Floral character grows with time... this tastes like a play on Torpedo, with the citrus dialed back and replaced by intriguing floral notes. It works.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Just a touch on the high side of moderate carbonation. Passable but bordering on forgettable, except that the nice, really dry finish bumps it up to 4.0. Love my IPAs to be bone dry like this.
Overall: Solid IPA. Really drinks like a play on Torpedo, and an intelligent one.
Pairing note: pairing this with roasted peppers and BBQ sauce, a real undercooked bread flavor came out in the beer, which I actually quite enjoyed. The hops are bold enough to hang with the slightly spicy BBQ sauce and bold, usually beer-destroying taste of peppers, and they work well with the yeasty bread flavor. In other words, holds up pretty well to food. Probably a decent BBQ beer (the whole pack works for a BBQ; just save the oatmeal stout for the latter half of the day).

Reviewed from notes July 2012.
"Copper/light brown color with a clear appearance. I don't like the aroma of the hops in this beer. Taste is too bitter, again for Sierra Nevada!! I haven't had an i.p.a. from these guys that I hadn't though was too bitter and harsh - torpedo, hoptimum.... I guess the "wet hopped harvest was pretty good. Medium body and carbonation. hoppiness gets more "palatable" as you drink but still too harsh.
