On-tap at Barcade, Jersey City, NJ
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down, leaving lots of lacing down the sides of the glass and a collar around the edge.
S: Light aromas of pine resin hops are present in the nose along with notes of Belgian yeast and dark malts.
T: The taste has flavors of Belgian yeast along with hints of roasted malts and pine resin hops along with a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: If there was such a style, I would classify this beer as a Belgian Black IPA since it exhibits properties of both a Belgian Dark Ale and an American Black IPA.

A- Pitch black with a light khaki head of 1.5 fingers that settles into a ring around the edge. Deep red accents and superb lacing make for a very tasty looking treat.
S- Some earthy and fruity hops of lemon zest. Slight lingering musk and dirt. A roasted malt base.
T- A harmonious balance of roasted malts and fruit hops. Tangy, acidic, and raw as it tantalizes the palate. Some coffee, smoke, and pine help it to settle in nicely on the taste buds, but then quickly fades to the fruity, lemon character. Spot on bitterness.
M- Creamy and heavier than most IPAs, but not at the cost of losing some crisp drinkable character. Mid body bordering on full. Alcohol fairly well hidden.
O- First encounter with the Soriachi Ace hop, and I am quite smitten. Straight forward and well done.

On-tap 11/20/2013 at Doherty’s Ale House, in Warwick, RI served in a snifter glass.
A: The beer is a deep black color, with a large foamy beige head that fades very slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and some hops.
T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malt character that is quickly followed by flavors of dark chocolate and coffee. Then a strong hops bitterness comes in creating a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not to filling, good kick, very good combination of styles, this is a very nice beer to pound down for a long time.
