Thanks to my buddy Bluz4Frank for picking up a couple of these for me.
Poured from a 375mL bottle into a tulip.
A: Pours nearly pitch black except for some dark purple/garnet colored hues along the edges. A thin, creamy, off-white head sits on top by fades to a solid ring that lasts till the last drop.
S: There are a lot of phenols up front creating a slight medicinal aroma. Bold sweetness of dark fruits follow with a touch of alcohol.
T: Rich caramel malt and mildly sweet dark fruits blend well while the medicinal aromatics found in the nose have mostly disappeared. The alcohol is hardly noticeable, and finishes with a sweet kick at the end.
M: Medium bodied with a minimal amount of carbonation. Overall it feels very still, but finishes smoothly with the alcohol hidden dangerously well.
O: While this beer has its flaws, it isn't a bad example of the style overall. Easy to drink and pretty tasty, I'll revisit this from time to time.

A: Dark brown with a plum tinge. It’s a deep red purple tinge when held to the light. Looks clear not cloudy on first pour, no visible carbonation. A finger of beige head with a light purple tinge.
S: Sweet plums, plum pudding or plum pie, fruity, brown sugar, alcohol, raisins.
T: Fruity, plums, brown sugar, alcohol, dark toasted notes, plum skin, slightly tannic
M: Thick syrupy body with medium foamy carbonation.
O: I really like this style, and its well done by Sierra Nevada. Yes, it has the plum theme all the way through. Drank at Turkey Creek Rd, Clyde NC June 28 2014 my daughter’s 2nd birthday.
