Just when it feels like the dog days will never end, suddenly, the switch is flipped, the air gets cooler and it’s clear that autumn is on the way. Featuring a ruby-red hue and abundant tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors, Flipside Red IPA is the perfect beer for the final flash of summer.

From the 12 ounce bottle into a can-shaped glass.

A- Dark amber body that approaches brown in color, a frothy, sticky head and lace that takes its time in receding. Mostly opaque and there aren't any signs of carbonation visible.

S- Well, it smells like a big, fruity, piney IPA. Plus it has the sweet floral aroma of practically every Sierra beer. I get a ton of fresh orange. Maybe some grassy aspects. Some resinous spice. I don't detect much malt, believe it or not.

T- There's the malt, much more present on the tongue. It's got good doses of rye bread, caramel and floral sweetness, and very little of the potent hop profile from the nose. There are hints of pine though.

M- Thick and malty mostly, but with a bit of bitterness and dry yeastiness towards the finish.

Another good one from Sierra Nevada. Call it a hopped-up amber or Red IPA, but either way it's enjoyable.

12oz bottle from the recent mix pack pour out an absolutely beautiful mahogany color, deep red and rich, with a cap of off-white tannish head. Very malty, biscuit with some hints of sweetness, the hops have an earthy component and some slight spice character, maybe grapefruit pith and a somewhat herbaceous quality as well, but mostly malty with some nutty sweetness. This one is pretty malt-forward to me, and I was hoping or an actual IPA, i.e. more apparent hop character, so I was disappointed, but it still wasn't bad.

Can pour - looks like an amber ale with big creamy head leaving lots of lacing. Nose is a mix of citrusy hops and roasty malt.
Taste veers heavily into malt territory. Would guess this is a red/amber ale, rather than an ipa, solely based on taste. Would be a great addition to their regular line up.

Purchased in the Fan Favorites Variety Pack.
Look: Red with a brown tint. Medium-high head. Nothing that special.
Smell: The Citra hops come through big on the nose, but unfortunately it’s hard sniff out any other flavors.
Taste: The Citra hops come through again, but are well complimented by what tastes like coriander, and a super smooth malt finish.
Feel: Medium carbonation, easy to drink.
Overall: This is a great IPA, and I would definitely buy again.

12oz can, tulip, canned 10/10/23.

Beautiful auburn color and a tower of head. Good lacing.

Pine, grapefruit, green and herbal. This is nice and fresh.

A good dose of piney hops, dark caramel, nutty finish.

Medium body with nice tight carbonation.

On brand Sierra Nevada beer that’s very good when fresh. If you like hoppy reds, this is for you.

LOOK: Pours a very clear red and mahogany mix with a cream colored fulffy head that has both very good retention and side glass lace. This is a good looking beer.
AROMA: Roasted and malty with some sweetness of caramel, faint creamed coffee and hops of grapefruit and pine resin.
TASTE: Nice balance malts are more prominent that usual in an IPA. Grapefruit, resin, acerbic hops and roasted malts are a winner for me.
feel: Dry after taste.
Whateer Sirra Nevada brews thay do a wuperior job across the board.

A-deep brown, looks like a good bourbon. Great fluffy cream colored head

S-pine, biscuit, grass, a slight metallic hint

T- a lot different than the nose. Some hop bitterness, some roasty undertones, dried fruit

M- smooth, medium bodied

Overall the palate goes a different direction than the nose. It’s fairly simple, but unremarkable

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep red with an off white head. Smells of citrus hops and some sweet grain. Tastes of bright citrus hops and nice caramelized grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Two brown twelve ounce bottles were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. It was a bit of a foamy pour, but not ridiculous. The head is off-white, with a little tint of the color of the brew registering. The body of the beer is more brown than red, call it brown with a reddish tint. It's dark, but there's a brightness to it and it's not entirely opaque. There's a mild maltiness to smell, but it's hardly impressive. Roasted malt is the dominant taste, but there's an earthy hop bite that nearly matches it. That certainly keeps it from being close to too sweet and the balance between the two is commendable. After the finish, there's not too much of either lingering. Also not lingering is much glass lacing. That runs scantily, although there's nothing wrong with the body. Some Red ales feel smoother than this, but that's not a major complaint. It's one of those not bad, not great beers that you can drink, but not seek out.

An very unique ipa. It's very heavy on the hops while the rest of the beer seems diluted. The malty notes usually found in red ipas are not there. It's not bad but not something I would buy again.
