You first taste tropical fruit then the after taste has caramel/chocolate flavor. Not a bad beer

Serving: Bottle into tulip
Served: 18 October 2014

Appearance: Pours a clear deep red amber color with a dirty white head that sticks around for a bit and leaves some nice initial lacing up towards the top of the glass.

Smell: Hops, hops, and more hops. No malt perceptible through the huge bouquet of floral and citrus hoppiness.

Taste: At first, again, lots of hops with similar notes as the nose. As the beer warms, a sweet caramel maltiness starts coming through which is really great, and this is a flavor I'd love to see more dominant throughout the whole drinking of the beer rather than the last third.

Feel: Nice body on the tongue with excellent carbonation.

Overall: A decent offering from SN, but one that I think could improve with higher emphasis on the malt and a slightly toned down hoppiness. The last third of the beer was great, and it was something I'd have liked to see throughout.

Picked this up at Winn Dixie in a variety 6 pack. I really liked Torpedo, which is the only quality IPA i have to compare this one to. First critical review of a beer. Here goes!

Appearance: beautiful dark red/brown with a large off-white 3/4 finger head that settles to a thick film that lasts throughout.

Aroma: Fruity, Sweet, hoppy. Heavy grapefruit. Not grassy or piney like Torpedo was.

Taste: Sweet upfront with very little bite on the beginning like I was expecting. Grapefruity sweetness with a mild bitterness that seemed delayed until I swallowed completely. Not as dry on the finish as Torpedo was either. Very little malt, although I may just be distracted by the pleasant sweetness. The alcohol is barely apparent even as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Lighter side of medium with medium-low carbonation that compliments the muted bitter aftertaste.

Overall: IPA's are not my choice style of beer but I really really enjoyed this beer. Not obnoxiously bitter like some IPAS, bust still interesting and very drinkable. The bottle says it's a seasonal beer for between summer and fall, I guess that makes sense. Awesome. Cheers!
