Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass.

Great looking amber. Dark red with deep ruby orange and amber body with nice rising carbonation of pinhead size. Head is a large billowing four fingers tall with nice clumping retention and even head formation. Lots of staying power with an island of creamy head to match. Great looking brew.

Solid red amber. Mild caramel, but a nice hop angle of faint citrus and good floral notes. Lots of bakery bread action on this to match as well.

Palate has a great amount of flavor. Great sensing malt action, with a hint of mild chocolate and whipped up character. Bakery toasting bread on the finish. Hop bitterness lingers with a light pleasant character, somewhere between a mix of floral pine and dank earth qualities but nothing heavy. Very nicely balanced. Light bodied with a nearly juicy feel but the malt density just wont let that happen.

This may not be the most explosive or impressive amber, but it's got great qualities and is in such an easy to drink package, and I am a sucker for a good red amber ale, and this delivers the goods.

Pours a mostly clear dark amber color with a thick, pillowy head that leaves drippy sheets on the glass. Hoppy aromas, herbal and resinous. Dark, woody, and earthy. Oily, spicy hop flavors over a dark malt sweetness and some tea. Juicy citrus and pine sap. Medium-plus body, bitter, and properly carbonated to keep it highly drinkable. A well crafted hoppy beer, as expected from Sierra Nevada.

A-What a beaut! Dark crimson. Slightly cloudy. Big, frothy, doughy head that sits and sits. Tons of froth-bubbles that leave thick, bubble-pop lacing explosions along the glass.

S-Citra, Simcoe and Centennial are the hops and they are blatantly noticeable. You get the mossy/tropical Citra conundrum, the spiciness and slight onion of centennial and the deep grapefruit of Simcoe. Behind the hop triad is a modest caramel malt.

T-The flavor brings forth the characteristics of those three hops quite well. I will say that none of them are really able to stand out but they work well together. The malt still stands behind the hoppy flavors.

M-Drinks easy. Would have expected more bitterness but I'm fine with that. Ripe feel. Medium body with some definite girth to it.

O/D-I enjoy this beer. Great hop selection. I'll take this over Tumbler any day...Sorry Tumbler.

A- Pours a clear, deep amber with a robust 2.5-3 finger light tan head. Soapy lacing. Nice staying power. Love the look of this one.

S- Hmmm...Not a huge aroma that I was expecting to say the least. Some citrus and earthy hops, but uncharacteristically subdued for the style and from this brewery. Also picking up a hint of dirt aroma.

T- Fruit- grapefruit, mango, and some sweet juices. Mainly hops taking control from the start. A fair caramel type base that makes an effort to create balance. Touch of spice and resinous tea leaf notes.

M- Dry and bitter. Mid body. The feel seems to be about right for the style, and probably the best quality of this beer.

O- A little less smooth than some of the other beers i have had featuring the Citra hop. Pretty intense bitterness and weak malt leads to some imbalance. Solid but not great.
