This is review is more a PSA than anything. This is not an IPA by any stretch of the word. It couldn't be confused with an IPA in a blind tasting to anyone with tastebuds. This is a below average Amber or Red Ale. It smells like Caramel Malt with heavy metallic aromas (it may have been too cold as the metallic component seemed to dissipate with warming.) Faint, herbal hop aromas.
The flavor is downright bland. Pedestrian malt bill mixed with earthy, herbal, overboiled hops. At times like this I wish SN would use pellets instead of whole cone to cut down on some of the vegetal quality and get better utilization.
This beer is a great idea that was executely poorly. On paper this should be a hit. 3 of my favorite hop varieties together with a Sierra Nevada pedigree. It's not even "meh" it's not good at all. I will say the mouthfeel was very good which is typical of SN brews.

Reddish amber color with one finger of head that had good retention before settling to a thin cap. Moderate amount of lacing is left down the glass.
Aroma is not what I was expecting from a Sierra Nevada "IPA". Just a little dank and pine hops. Some caramel malt as well.
Nice flavor going on. Not overly bitter but features some nice hop flavors. Caramel malt Is present but not overdone. Good but just not outstanding.
As always, Sierra Nevada does not disappoint in mouthfeel. Good body and carbonation.
A good beer but still feel a little disappointed. Good value.

Pours into a standard pint glass a deep amber/tawny with a great looking billowing light beige head atop, great color and a great head,it just looks like fall.Aromas of citric hops and nutty malt with light caramel sweetness. The palate is alot like aromas with a good shot of citric hops intertwined with nutty maltiness with a little brown sugar in the finish.A solid hoppy amber ale,I could drink quite a few of these this fall.
