Just when it feels like the dog days will never end, suddenly, the switch is flipped, the air gets cooler and it’s clear that autumn is on the way. Featuring a ruby-red hue and abundant tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors, Flipside Red IPA is the perfect beer for the final flash of summer.

12oz bottle into snifter.

A: Pours a deep clear mahogany color with a greasy off white head that faded to a minimal film.
S: Grapefruit and citrus hops dominate. Very hoppy. Smells like a standard ipa without the red.
T: Follows the nose with tons of citrus hops and balancing caramel. Bready malt, juicy tropical fruit hops, a hint of mint come through. The finish is sweet, and I get caramel lightly bitter aftertaste. Slight bubblegum as well, and fresh greasy hop oil.
M: Medium full body, oily fresh greasy slick mouthfeel, normal smooth carbonation.
O: Excellent red ipa. Super hoppy and not overly malty. Very good hop profile.

Appearance: pours a reddish copper color with a 2" head that slowly falls to a thick surface covering. Nice lace paints the glass.

Smell: loads of caramel, fruit sweetness, and a nice hop presence is easily picked up by the nose.

Taste: big malt-forward beer with a hearty balancing bitterness. Caramel, pine, grapefruit, mango, sweet red apples, and some alcohol are the main flavors I picked up.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Lightly crisp to start, smoother and mildly dry at the finish. Long lasting aftertaste.

Overall: this is a very enjoyable IPA that is easy to drink and is satisfying.

Clear, burnt orange with a big beige cap of fluffy bubbles. Good head retention with lots of clumpy lacing. Sharp grapefruit aroma, juicy and powdery with mild malt and pine. Strong, lingering bitterness with mild malt sweetness, citrus, light bread and marshmallow character. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, a bit of dryness. A solid beer - tasty and relatively bitter.

Been a while, but on tap at the spot - The Playground, in Downtown Santa Ana, CA.

Let's get to the point like Edward G. Robinson in "Little Caesar" - this thang has the right amount of hops, a good amount of malt like your last break up, and it tastes clean like your mama just made your bed in '94.

Not perfection, but mighty fine!
