Appearance: Watermelon-flesh colored; cloudy; no head

Aroma: Raspberries

Taste: Very sweet, like raspberry syrup; tangy; dry finish; very much like a wine cooler

Remarks: Not bad for people who like wine coolers; not much beer flavor; flavor was decent, though

Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Had this beer at Lindenbrau at the Sony Center in Berlin. Served from the bottle, cool in a hefe glass with a straw.

A-claret body and a pink head.

S-fresh raspberries and some grain.

T-sour, some saltiness, faint grain and alot of raspberry flavor

D-Certainly different in every way. Refreshing. I would actually do something like this once a year or so.

Pours dark pink with bright pink head, certainly the most interesting coloured beer I have seen, dense patchy lacing. Aroma is sweet raspberry, not bad at all.

Taste is sweet raspberry syrup with subtle sourish herbal feel towards the finish, the sweetness is not cloying. Mouthfeel is about medium with moderate carbonation.

I did not expect the beer to be so sweet, I could not handle more than 0.2 ml glass.

12 oz bottle from my friend in Germany, thanks Moritz!
I poured this one into my Sam Adams perfect pint.

Appearance: A slightly cloudy pinkish beer, this will never be mistaken for a stout. A one finger light pink head settles after a minute or two.

Smell: There is clearly raspberry in the smell but also a base beer behind. The raspberries smell candied or artificial, kind of like diet coke does not smell like regular coke.

Taste: The taste is better than expected. I was expecting too sweet, but this one is mildly sweet with a little sour bite to it. The raspberries have a better taste than smell. There is a touch of something like aspertame in here, though

Mouthfeel: The body is light and effervescent. Great for a summer evening, not too heavy.

Overall: Again, I guess I should have tried the regular berliner weisse first and this one after. I am glad to have tried it, but I probably would not choose this one again.

Big thanks to Koelschtrinker for the trade on this one. 12oz bottle poured into a matching Berliner Kindl weisse bowl. This brew appears a clouded color of red that looks strikingly similar to some fruit juices. A finger of pink froth sits atop the brew and recedes leaving spots and strings of lacing. A swirl brings back a finger of pink foam across the top of the brew.

The smell of this brew is a bit more funky than the standard unfruited version. There is a fruited scent that is somewhat pitted and lightly earthy. Some sulfur and stinky cheese brings up the back of the aroma. This is very similar smelling to the original only the lemony aspects have been stripped out of the aroma and a minor touch of over ripe raspberry has been included.

The taste of this brew is sweet initially with a flavor of fresh raspberry. The amount of reddish discoloration in this brew led me to believe that this was going to be way overdone with the fruit addition. However, I am pleasantly surprised to note that while it is more sweet than the unfruited version, it is not sickeningly sweet. There is still a base grain sweetness present reminiscent of cereal grains and a bit of fruited character that is very similar to fruity pebbles or fruit loops cereal. The finish is crisp with a combination of light tartness contrasted by a fruited sweetness.

This is a light bodied brew with a lively amount of carbonation that is light in the feel. it is very easy drinking with the alcohol completely masked in this brew. While this was an interesting experience and I am glad to have had the opportunity to give this a try, I am still not sold on the idea of adding fruit syrups to berliner weisse offerings. The fruited aspect of this brew was pleasant but unfortunately the fruit addition has pretty much stripped the base character and everything I love about berliner weisse out of this brew. What I am left with in my glass is strikingly similar to a fruit spritzer.

Slightly cloudy rose body with lumpy pink champagne head. Nose is raspberry candy up front up layers of funky and acid are underneath.
Sweet-tart berry flavor up front, a balsamic hit, traces of yeast, some vague barrel and no hops to speak of.
Lemon juice finish and seriously tart, puckering linger. Light, crisp, lively.

1.2% raspberry syrup, according to the label.

I was interested in this style and wanted to taste it straight, but this was a gift so can't complain. This leaves me, however, if no frame of reference, rating it for what it is rather than what it should be. That is a light, refreshing, shallow and oversweet beer that echoes some sweetened lambics, but just doesn't have enough going on to stand on it's own as a weiss or even a beer.

This is my favorite of the "mit Schuss" versions of Berliner Kindl Weisse--I just really like drinking a rich pink beer that smells and tastes like raspberry candy!

I like the way the sweet sugars of the syrup meld with the sour beer itself, I like the light carbonation, I think it's great that the mouthfeel isn't too syrupy, and I can drink one very slowly over a long summer afternoon and feel like more of a BA than I do when I reach for Bionade. Nothing not to like.

a berliner with raspberry juice added. could see this going over quite well in poland over the summer. the berliner with juice is something that would go naturally seeing as they add raspberry juice to regular euro pales in the summer... and in the winter (a preventative measure for colds.)

pour is quite red pink with a white pink head. nose is berliner wiesse yeast and yogurt with a raspberry tart candy. the beer is basically that all the way through. a bit too much sweetness that makes the beer sort of... um. childish. not much different from nose to palate. nothing unexpected and quite drinkable besides the sweet. the sweet isn't syrupy on the feel. clean. not inconsistencies outside of being just plain boring in the middle of polish winter.
