355ml bottle. All Spanish on the label marketing descriptions - all I can decipher is some reference to a 'new beer revolution'...

This beer pours a cola-tinged black, with significant reddish highlights, and three fingers of thin puffy, specked tan head, which sinks away slowly and evenly, rendering a swath of layered cumulonimbus lace around the glass.

It smells of dry, roasted coffee, mild chocolate malt, a bit of savoury meatiness, some tepid caramel, and earthy, herbal hops. The taste is big toasted coffee malt, bittersweet cocoa, a twinge of milky sourness, and earthy, leafy hops, a hollow citrus essence kicking at the floorboards.

The carbonation is la Migra-spotting sedate, the body a decent medium weight, and gingerly silky smooth, some weakly prickly hop character come around to mess with it. It finishes a little more off-dry than a typical Irish Dry, but it's all good - a lingering of that nice chocolate/coffee blend is most welcome.

A genuinely tasty stout, from a heretofore unlikely source - the same region that provides the world with the devil's juice - tequila. Well balanced, big on flavour, and not complicated. Good stuff - viva la revolución!

Was excited to find a Mexican stout at a grocery store in Cancun.

A: Pours dark black with a chunky brownish head that dissipates quickly, resulting in a ring of foam around the top of the beer. Minimal lacing down the side of the glass.

S: Heavy toasted malts with a mix of chocolate and coffee. As the beer warms the chocolate aroma intensifies and the coffee smell weakens.

T: The taste is a little weaker than the nose. There is a nice blend of bitter chocolate and coffee.

M/D: Medium bodied and pretty creamy. Has a nice finish that leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Pretty happy with this beer, something I would definitely look for in Mexico. A nice change of pace from the lagers that dominate down here.

It pours a dark beer with a reddish color when light comes through it. With a small head that lasts long and a lace that stays in the glass.

It smells like roasted chocolate malts with some coffee, but the chocolate stays in your nose.

Bitter chocolate and strong coffee with some notes of toffee and maybe a touch of claw.

Its mouthfeel is pretty good, with some crisp (a little bit too much) and bitter sweet aftertaste that makes this beer a lot better than its other mexican equals.

This is a very good beer for cold days, it has a considerable high ABV (6 %) and a very pleasant bitter aftertaste that keeps you drinking

I had a beer tasting in a pub called 'the Mug' in Middelburg. I was being introduced to the local PINT beer tasting club. The theme that night was UK Stout and Porter beers.

A - Pitch black and a ring of foam against the glass.

S - Chocolate and coffee, not bad at all.

T - a bit flat, not really much going on. Tiny bits of acids and sugar but much more bitterness.

M - no carbonation, not much going on, no sensation at all.

O - Not a beer I would be going for in the future.

Bottle at Beer Museum in Federal District.

Bottle says "Stout Imperial," and it sure tastes like it! Big coffee flavor from roasted barley and coffee malts. Smell is again big coffeeness, just like a morning cup. Super dark in color, you can see a little red in the bottom of the glass when it's about finished. Creamy mouthfeel but a bit watery, like Negra Modelo, which makes it super drinkable.

Like a cross between Speedway Stout and Negra Modelo. A mexican imperial stout! It would be good with flan.

This "Imperial Stout", apparently the term they use for Russian style, certainly has a nice full body and dark color, the smell of chocolate and coffee is inviting as well.

The flavor is the most remarkable aspect, bitter, the chocolate and coffee on it certainly shows on a pleasing manner along with the roasted malt.

The sensation is good, the aftertaste is actually sweet, and it's good to drink at an ample range of temperatures for any time of the year.

Of all the Minerva styles this one's got to be my favorite and it's also one of the best stouts can procure among Mexican beers.

This one is the best of the minervas beers.

The appearance is ok, with a coffee opaque color, seems like chocolate melted;

There are lot of cocoa in the smell;

The taste is rich, a bitter flavor with a mixture of chocolate and coffee;

The mouthfeel is tasty;

In the drinkability, i prefer to enjoy the stouts without food.

Interesting, called Stout Imperial, not sure if that's supposed to mean imperial stout (which it def is not), or just a nice stout for imperial like or something. Found in Cancun.

Light creamy fizzy head fades at a med pace of almost ½ finger, very dark murky brown-black molasses color with very little light coming through.

Nose light roasted malt, a bit of black patent malt, and even a hint of chocolate, milk chocolate, crystal malts, light nougat candy, and even a touch of bright aromatic malt.

Taste starts with more roasty malts, a bit of cocoa and black patent, caramel, nougat, candy like flavors but not really sweet, toasty roasty malt flavors, hint of earthy hops. Light juicy fresh malt flavor, light semi sweet semi bitter chocolate. The bitterness ramps a bit, with more earthy hops and bitternes from the roasted malts bring a light salty briny quality. Even a touch of coffee. Finish is fairly bitter, dry, bit ofearthy hops and bitterness from the roasted malts that also linger a bit, with cocoa and caramel.

Mouth is med to full bodied, actually a little bit too much carbonation that takes away from the richness of the beer and makes it seem more like a Mexican style beer.

Overall best beer I’ve had here so far. I’ll have to try more of their beers. Nice malts, dark malts, no real off flavors, even a hint of hops, just a bit too much carbonation as the only real flaw. Also not sure if I would call this an imperial stout, but otherwise good.

Nice thick and dark, slightly syrupy feel. Pours with very little head, and just a thin film layer of carbonation on top.

Smells like coffee and some dark roasted fruits.

Taste is more of the same, excellent coffee notes, roasted malts and a little chocolate undertones. Bitterness is there, and finishes a bit dry. Some earthy hop presence, but just in the background.

Mouthfeel is very good, a little thick, but not overly so.

Overall a very good stout. Definitely not an imperial stout, like the name might suggest, but a very decent regular stout. One of the better beers of normal strength available in Mexico.

A: Intense dark brown color almost black, when against light it cannot pass

S: Toasted malt, almost coffee can be sensed some caramel or brown sugar is at the back.

T: Really intense toasted feeling, certainly sweet at the beginning and bitter at the end, it is really a balanced combination that lets the bittersweet sensation.

M: Robust body that can be feel as creamy in the mouth, good starting and good ending, good balance for a stout but nos so bitter or heavy, alcohol good enough.

A: Looking is pretty good a dark brown color is almost confused with black, head is big with medium retentions and slow dissipation formed by brown small bubbles carbonation should be rich because it forms a thick permanent layer on top but as is too dark is not visible.

S: Nice aroma coffee notes along with the toasted barley malts, this beer is as expected.

T: Also tasting is good, but there is a little problem at the end with a faint flavor of something like soap, it starts with an intense toasted malt flavor, it has also some hops.

M: The sensations is balanced at some point the sweetness is mixed with the bitterness and it is balanced, the end is long but not as intense as could, some dry sensation is kept on the mouth.

Served in a mug from a bottle.

A: Pours a nice smooth head, about an inch of it, caramel-brown, dissipates almost immediately leaving no lace at all. The color is a really deep brown, almost pitch black.

S: Intense toasted coffee, and other toasted malts. A little bit of alcohol, but it's lost due to the roasted smell of coffee and slightly caramel aromas.

T: The taste of toasted malts and coffee is the first thing you notice, followed by semi-sweet chocolate and faint notes of caramel or brown sugar. The after-taste is semi-sweet chocolate and it lasts for the next few minutes.

M: The carbonation is very low, so the only thing in your tongue is the taste of malts, chocolate and coffee. A little dry at the end, but smooth at the beginning. Leaves a bitter mouth-feel at the back of you tongue.

Overall a really good beer, this was my second time tasting it, but first time reviewing, and I'm glad I did it this time, because the first time it had a little bit of infection that made me not want to have it again. But I'm glad I did taste it again! This beer made for a fantastic stout, with a mouth-full of chocolate and coffee. I would definitely recommend it and have it again.
