Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: mothman on 08-04-2010

We produce this sour ale by ageing our Jackhammer Old Ale for 12 months in inoculated oak barrels. The result is a high-gravity, medium-bodied ale with a richly complex palate bursting with juicy sweet-tart fruit flavors. Classic flanders red ale flavors and aromas intermingle with earthy, oakey notes and estery phenols over a rich malty base with the perfect balance of acidity and dryness.

Edit: Name is Flamboyant Wild Red

On tap at Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Fest

Pours no head. Color is a dark murky brown with a caramel hue to it.

Aroma: Vinegar, oak, sour cherries. Has an acidic flavor to it. Nothing over the top sour.

Taste: A lot of sour tart cherries. Mouth puckering. Oak and vinegar again with acidic flavors. A very solid sour. It also has some spice notes showing as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Sour and tart. Medium bodied. Low to medium amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is really easy drinking sour. I thought it was one of the better wilds at the fest. Great drinkability.
