A half pour into a small tulip glass,a hazed almost peach-like color with a small but well defines white head atop.Loved the aromas, big and floral with fresh citrus zest, like the different hop profiles going on.Not as much going on flavor-wise though, citrusy hop with a mix of caramel and toasty malt. Its a nice change of pace from just citric and bitter hop driven pale ales, although the flavor could pack a little more oomph as you could say.

My friend picked up a discounted case and share a bottle with me. The only date on the bottle is 01/2014 which is long time to let a hop centered beer sit on the shelf; I'm hoping that this is a beer from the future and not an old bottle.

A: A hazy light amber beer. I was warned about is one foaming over but no such problem here. The head is long lasting off-white foam.

S: moderate citrus hops with a citrus peel character, the hops aren't muted and aged but their not bright and fresh either. A light malt sweetness and a slight bit of alcohol sweetness as well.

T: The flavor is again more citrus peel than citrus. It's a but unusual but not bad having a moderately strong hops flavor and hops bitterness. The malt brings a light clean sweetness. The balance is moderately bitter. The finish is off dry with a citrus peel bitterness for an aftertaste. There was is a light bit is diacetyl.

M: A fairly creamy beer with medium-full body and moderately-strong level of carbonation. A moderately-light slickness coating the palate.

O: An interesting take on an American IPA not that the craft beer scene isn't littered with slightly off IPAs. The diacetyl gives the impression of English yeast while having American hops sort of confuses the English style from the American.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2012 (I think). ABV is stated as 6.4%. Acquired from an Italian deli in York.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. A hazy coppery-amber with plentiful carbonation. Produces a massive head of creamy off-white foam with excellent retention; this lasts for quite a while before finally reducing to a surface layer. Aroma of sweet malt with notes of citrus and leafy hops, underpinned by earthy yeast. Faint hints of spice/ginger in the background.

Tastes of sweet malt with an aromatic hop character and a dry, bitter finish. Notes of biscuits, citrus and yeast, followed by an oily astringent bitterness. A hint of solvent/alcohol in the background. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with decent body. Highly astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops and malt.

A pretty good effort, though not as balanced as the regular ReAle. The aroma is nice, but the flavour has a vaguely unpleasant hop aroma/bitterness in the background that detracts from the overall impression. Perhaps a tad too much bittering hops? At any rate it has minor flaws, but it's still packed with character. Worth trying.

Thanks to THECPJ for the share. Review from notes 11/20/10.

A: Pours orange with a chunky white head. Head faded to a small layer of bubbles on the top. Decent lacing.

S: A slight hop aroma, lots of melon and orange and a little bit of pear/apple. There is a somewhat strong biscuit malt aroma.

T: Very sweet, almost candy-like (reminded me of smarties). The fruit flavors come through nicely. There is also a grassy flavor as well.

M/D: Medium bodied with decent carbonation. The sweetness is a little tough to get over, but pretty good and very drinkable.

A good Belgian, malty and yeasty aroma and taste. Good mouthfeel, bolstered by caramel and toffee, its easy drinking.Golden body without that much head. Hmm, sugar, A bit sweeter than your average Belgium, there is still ample hops in here. Understated carbonation.

Into a tall glass. Three fingers of head, big and frothy. A hazy, dark straw colored body.
Smells like lemon and pine, and a floral note. Which was a nice surprise.
A solid malty taste, toned down pine bitterness. Tasty.
Silky texture, moderate carbonation with a fizz.
This is a good beer. For an American IPA it does not have the characteristic bitterness, or maybe I'm used to higher IBU for IPAs. In any case, it's still enjoyable.

Pours gold/amber with a massive head.
Nose shows grapefruit and pine, along with a load of spicy hops. Also a bit of faint malt.
Similar flavours, more spicy hops and grapefruit. Not very aggressive though. Underneath is some biscuit-like malt. Mild bitterness.
Nice moderate carbonation.

Thanks to Vav for the recommendation on this one.

I've noticed that many of these Italian craft imports are designed to look like wine bottles. Seems like extra effort for nothing, save for a higher price. Sleek, elegant, etc. Gold stamped neck label over the cap, but in a green bottle... why? Hoppy beers don't travel so well in green glass...

Pours a deep saturated orange, seemingly murky. Insane billowing foam that looks simultaneously like a churning washing machine full of soapy bubbles in the middle, and a wintery mountain range of irregular peaks on top. Retention is ok after the souffle head deflates. Sticky, iridescent lace coats the glass rim.

Aroma is overly floral and perfumy at first, reminiscent of potpourri. Later a dry pale malt with a wisp of citrus rind emerges. Seems like time has faded it somewhat.

Fruity citrus and pale malt come to the forefront in the flavor, hops are all citrusy grapefruit, and almost medicinal at times. Some dry chalky bitterness in the aftertaste. Feels like an IPA with ample bitterness, and light to medium body. Overall it's pretty good, but was probably better a few months ago.

Bottle: Poured a dirty beige color ale with a super large foamy head with good retention and some excellent lacing. Aroma consists of earthy hops with floral notes with strong Belgian malt with light sweetness. Taste is also a very nice mix between some earthy hops with dryness and floral notes with a solid malt backbone with nice flavour. Body is full with perfect carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed and easily drinkable.
