Notes/Commercial Description:
After the Equilibrista, our beer inspired by the Champagne world, here it is a new experiment on the “wine meets beer” theme. This time, though, we tipped the scales in favour of beer, adding to the Duchessa wort only a 25% of wine must: in this case we used Malvasia (coming from our friends of Tenuta di Bibbiano, as usual), a white, aromatic grape variety which gives the beer a gentle and nice sharpness and an inusual, fruity nose. The beer is bottle-fermentd using Champagne-yeasts, and it has a quite intense “perlage” (bubbles) that makes it perfect as an aperitif or even for the whole meal. The “chaotic” label was designed by Valentina De Luca, an Art student at the Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore Antonio Cederna of Velletri (Rome), who won our contest “Etichette Bizzarre”.

Arrived a bland, dull yellow with no head. Very average. It also had no discernible smell. Tastes warm with a cidery finish. It had an apple hint that was nice and unexpected. There was no bite despite a relatively high ABV, and though there's not a lot of body, the warm aftertaste kicked it up to a 3.5. Overall, the taste was so good that it more than made up for some of the weaker features, and I'd certainly get it again.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. No head, at all, can't even stimulate one. Clear, oily lacing. Body is clear golden with a touch of copper. Aroma includes green apples, cinnamon, some flowers (lavender?), cardamon, green grapes and candi sugar. Taste closely follows the aromas and is slightly tart, slightly sweet, a touch medicinal, slightly mead like. I think this one is unique and flavorful, but I wouldn't go into it with any particular taste expectations. Don't go by whatever style the beer will be listed as because this one can not neatly be placed into ANY particular beer category.

I had this on tap at Hunger N Thirst, enjoyed chilled in a snifter.

the color is golden with light hazed appearance with small ring of beads with visible carbonation. The smell has a light lemon quality with vinous aroma and slight woody scent with gentle yeast aspect giving a slight sour smell. The feel is tangy and fruity with light carbonation and carries a yeast quality with mild malt in the feel and subtle spice perhaps a tannin with very dry finish.

The taste is very foood with wine accent from the barrel noticeable up front

On draft at Rustico in Alexandria.

The beer is transparent, still and bright orange. The aroma offers grape juice, grape skins. A distant hint of funky yeast far in the background. Notes of white wine. Fairly sweet with only a brief glimpse of tartness. Light in body with low carbonation. Smooth on the palate. This was ok, but is pretty one dimensional, lacking a sense of adventure.

Tasted at "Super Kegs" at The Diamond in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

"50% Malvasia grapes, 50% malted barley, and primary fermentation with Champagne yeast"

Grape is way out front. I guess the easy way to make a grape beer work is to make the beer super non-assertive. That way you don't have to blend the flavors. The Malvasian grapes are an interesting flavor, but not something I'd want in my face for multiple glasses.

Finishes on a nice herbal note. Is it grape skin tannins, or is it hops? I think hops. So maybe there's some beer flavor in there after all.
