Caffe Apropos is a local European espresso bar with an excellent wine and beer selection. It's only 1-2 years old, a cozy little place in Harrison West, an historic, residential neighborhood slightly northwest of downtown Columbus. Serves coffee, sandwiches, breakfast, and desserts. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The cafe holds a number of neighborhood events including weekly wine tastings and local musicians.
The beer selection is good and getting better. Usually 30-40 different beers, all bottles, available. A handful of the standard American macrobrews are available, but most are smaller breweries like Bell's and Great Lakes. Some nice European selections, too, such as Smithwick's, Guiness, and more. Mostly six-packs, although there are more and more individual bottles every time I stop in.
As of August 2006, they received their license to serve beer on-premise, so now they have around 50 bottles available for consumption there. Again, very good choice... lots of Bell's, Goose Island, Founder's, and plenty of European imports.
Overall, a very nice place. Friendly and cozy. Great to have it in the neighborhood.
