22 oz. bottle. No bottling dates.

The beer pours out a golden body, with a rocky, dirty white head. It crackles out to a patchy cover, leaving stratas of lacing as it falls.

Dank hops, pineapple, grapefruit, and tropical fruit sweeten the nose. There's a little bit of spice and floral notes, with some cereal grains, but this is a showcase for Amarillo and Simcoe hops.

Fruity flavors at first, with pineapple, mango and grapefruit flavors. A resinous, pitch-like hop oil essence coats the mouth, with some light, herbal spice. A decent hop bitterness comes across, seemingly fairly tame at first, but it just keeps on building, and a stout bitterness is left in your mouth.

Wow. A great showcase for Simcoe and Amarillo hops, flavorful and delivers a bold bitterness that fulfills the need of every hop head. For a single IPA, this really impresses.

22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy light apricot color with a rocky off-white head. Great retention and lacing too.

Smell: Mellow aroma with light citrus taste (orange) and a bit of peach or apricot. Slightly spicy too.

Taste: The flavor is very much like the aroma. Very refreshing, but a light bit of bitterness at the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light- to medium-bodied; smooth with mild carbonation.

Drinkability: Very drinkable with a good ABV.

A great and refreshing IPA from a brewery I wasn't previously familiar with! Might become a new regular in the IPA bomber rotation around here...

Presentation: Bomber bottle, no freshness date as far as I can see, to cap of my Christmas Eve night. Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: Cloudy honey orange in color with a two finger pillowy white head. Pretty good retention. I'm actually surprised how little light penetrates this beer. Way more cloudy than I expected.

Aroma: Big pine and grapefruit rind aromas upfront. Definitely a hop forward beer here. Some mango and citrus sweetness in there too to balance out the prominent sweetness.

Taste: Some lush fruit upfront. Citrus and mango notes in particular, but they soon give way to bitter grapefruit and pine notes. Pretty good balance and a slight bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a nice dry finish.

Drinkability: Even at a pretty high ABV for a single IPA, I have no problem with a bomber. Could definitely have a couple of these in one sitting.

Overall, a nice and balanced IPA. Really nice hop flavors all around. Definitely something I would want to have again.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass
Dating - none. batch # perhaps

A: Pours a clear straw-pale color with a nice thick lacey foam head.

S: Smells incredible. Bursting with citrus - orange/tangerine aromas and hints of sweet peach/mango.

T: Much like the aroma - get blasts of citrus hop flavors upfront with considerable bitterness on the palate. Finishes slightly sweet but nice light and dry. You realy have to search for the alcohol in this one.

M: Pretty smooth. Slightly sweet and finishes dry.

D: Superb. A really nice IPA - slightly sweet and super hoppy.

Just Outstanding! Now I have had this brew before on tap after a few other hop bombs and did not think much of it at the time. Now sitting down to review a fresh bomber I am quite pleased. A very drinkable, super hoppy IPA which I love.

Big thanks to Jeff for cracking this one up at a recent tasting.

Appearance -- Pours a hazy orange tinged amber with two fingers of sudsy white head. Sticky lacing abounds.

Smell -- Quite hoppy, indeed. Grapefruit pulp, cut grass, pine resin, and an iota of caramel malt.

Taste -- Follows the nose: lots of juicy grapefruit, pine resin, and grassy hops. Baseline of hop bitterness throughout. Malt is pretty dry, though there is a slight hint of caramelized malts. Clean and exceptionally quaffable.

Mouthfeel -- Medium in body with lively carbonation. Slight oiliness from the hops.

Drinkability -- Truth in advertising. A truly exceptional IPA from an area flush with great IPA's. A must try, especially if your thing is dry IPA's.

Thanks to Solomon420 for a very generous trade!

Pours a glowing amber with two fingers of head that leave some good lacing on the way down.

Smell is an extremely juicy blend of citrus and floral notes. This one is pretty damn potent and inviting. I even ended up with foam up my nose because I kept wanting to get closer and closer.

The taste doesn't quite have that same effect. I like the hop profile but it isn't quite defined enough, nor is it balanced with the malts. I'm getting more of a bitter-hop-mixed-with-water type taste. Still, its not bad and there aren't any unpleasant flavors present.

Mouthfeel is medium but a tad too thin for the style. Although this goes down quite smooth, drinkability is lacking due to the the less than glowing flavor profile. Not a bad brew by any means, but a lot of IPA's are starting to blend together for me and it takes something special to stand out from the pack.

Thanks to rmjavanut for the trade!

22oz. bomber served into a Sierra Nevada nucleation pint glass

Pours a vibrant orange that is plenty cloudy with hop haze. The head is a delightful mixture of small, tight bubbles and big ol' bubbles. This produces a two finger sized head that is just off-white in color. This beer laces pretty spectacularly, too. Its hard to ask for anything more.

Very citrusy up front. Orange and grapefruit mostly, with light touches of mango throughout. Some drying pine scents backing it all up. The fruit is strong enough that I don't get much malt at all, which bodes well for guessing how intense the flavor is going to be. I'm even getting some pineapple in this nose. A wonderful IPA in terms of aroma. Single IPAs almost never have this much fruity lupulin scents; this beer earns a 5.0 score.

Unfortunately the beer drops off big-time from the nose. That fruit intensity is simply not there. You get some grapefruit (and grapefuit rind, specifically) and some appleskin but most you taste pine and flowers. The malt shows up but tastes unremarkably bready and boring. The finish and aftertaste is dominated by a medicinal sort of acrid bitterness. This doesn't taste bad by any means; it is above average, in fact. But it sure disappoints after that wondrous bouquet.

The mouthfeel is a mixed bag for me. I like the relative lightness but I don't like the lack of active carbonation. Its still above average but could be way better with more carbonation. The beer is a solid, drinkable IPA. I can't knock its drinkability any.

Just Outstanding IPA is not, in fact, outstanding. Well, its aroma is certainly befitting of the beer's moniker. I'm just left wondering why the taste didn't follow the nose.

22oz bottle from j47paco (thanks man!). No bottling date. Served in my Phish snifter.

Pours a hazy orange with a finger and a half near white head. A thin layer remains throughout and deposits big sheets of lace.

Smells of orange, grapefruit and pine with just a hint of malt.

Taste follows the nose. Oranges, grapefruit, pine, grass, cracker and pepper.

Semi oily, medium body, fizzy carbonation. Piney, citrus zest and orange pulp linger in the finish.

The name may be a bit of an over sell but this is a solid, straight forward IPA. Or perhaps as far as the current rating scale is labeled- this is "just" outstanding, not quite worls class.

Thanks to grze for sending me this bottle... as an extra believe it or not...

A- hazy peach orange color with an "outstanding" 2-3/4in antique white rocky, pillowy head... stuck around a damn good amount... left a superb amount of soapy lacing..

S- Candied oranges, pineapple and grapefruit... so sweet smelling at first... followed by a good hop punch ending in a grassy alcohol smell with the hopps lingering...

T- followed the nose in order as well... great lingering bitterness that wasn't overpowering. Its a good balance and is not one sided.. you get a good sweet citrus hot at first then the hoppiness comes thru and makes you know your drinking an ipa.

M- Creamy medium bodied with a juicy finish

O- Had high hopes for this one and it did not let down.... I had a lot of great, high rated ipa's this year and this one is definitely up there.. would have a hard time chosing others if this was around. Definitely Recommend and thanks again grze
