A - Pours a dark copper color with a small to medium head. Leaves a nice amount of lace around the glass as the head dissipates.
S - The initial aroma is pine with some citrus notes mixed in.
T - Very balanced and highly drinkable with a slightly bitter finish.
M - Medium body, very smooth with light carbonation.
O - This beer is so drinkable for an 8% ABV beer, it's almost addictive. It changed my mind about red ales. Just the right amount of hops to balance against the malt flavors. Ranks right up there with the best I've ever had.

Clear, gorgeous amber with a moderately sized off-white head that leaves regular lines of lacing down the glass. Gorgeous beer and perfect for the style.
The hallmark and best aspect of this beer is it's aroma. The amount of citrus and pine hop aromas is remarkable, for an IPA, DIPA, amber or otherwise, this thing smells fantastic. There's just a bit of crystal malt and sweet malt presence, but the pine and pungent citrus notes are simply fantastic.
The flavor isn't quite as nice as the aroma, but there's plenty of pungent citrus and sticky pine flavors, along with balanced crystal malt, and a moderate to high level of bitterness, especially for the style. Quite nice.
Medium bodied with crisp/high carbonation. Very drinkable.
Excellent imperial red.

Clear copper color with a tall dense white head from an aggressive pour.
It has quite a hoppy nose on it with generous doses of pine and orange zest. It has a sugary sweetness to it, too.
It has a clean hoppy bite to it with a strong crystal malt backbone. Pine and orange peel flavors with a nice bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with prickly carbonation.
This is an outstanding amber that can hang with the best of them.

On Tap at Kern for the Citra release
Look: Nice copper color and semi translucent body with a 1/8 inch off white head and no retention
Smell: Dispite the name of this beer and the hops used this does not at all smell like a dirty hippie. However there is some very nice piney hop notes
Taste: Wonderful hoppy note upfront with some caramel and a malty backbone
Mouthfeel: Thin body and medium carbonation
Overall: This is a great imperial red and shot itself to the top of the list for the best imperial red's I have ever had. Worth seeking out. Damn fine beer

Another good one from Kern River. Bottled 2 weeks ago. Poured into a large flute.
Dark Amber/Copper color. Small head. Lots of lacing. Looks good.
Smell the hops right away. Pine being abundant.
Balanced taste. The hops give a little bite, much more than a typical red. Very nicely done.
Lightly carbonated, medium body.
Overall a red that I'd drink again. Nicely done Kern.
