Viggo shared this one. thanks eric!

12oz bottle topped with tan wax. sampled may 15/09.

pours crystal clear deep red-brown. great garnet and ruby highlights when held to the light. a thin layer of fine light tan head forms, quickly dropping to a ring around the glass and leaving spotty lace.

aroma is good. caramel, toffee, and a bit of butterscotch. bit of dark fruit. whole wheat bread and biscuit. hint of alcohol. light smoke.

taste is good. low bitterness level. toasty whole wheat bread and biscuit. caramel and toffee. bit of butterscotch. bit of nutty character too. light sweetness. pleasant light smoky character. bit of dark fruit.

mouthfeel is good. nice big body. medium carbonation level.

drinkability is good. nice balance. good depth. solid scotch ale.

12 oz waxed bottle, huge thanks to oakbluff and friends for hooking me up twice!

Pours a lightly hazed reddish orange, blood orange almost, medium sized off white head forms, quickly settles down to a thin layer and nice ring around the glass, some lacing sticks, looks pretty good. Smell is nice, very sweet and malty, caramel and honey, some almost mead like characteristics, very light smoke/peat character, some bread and grains, brown sugar, lightly floral, what it lacks in complexity it makes up with richness. Taste is similar, almost a iced tea like characteristic, caramel and honey, very malty, some biscuit, light smoke, brown sugar, lightly fruity, some apricot, toasty in the finish, quite nice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, ABV is well hidden, pretty smooth and drinkable. A pretty unique Scotch ale, real nice and malty. Thanks Scotty!

Got this one from Oakbluff by way of Viggo. Thanks!
341 mL waxed bottle. Hazy, deep reddish amber with a thin cap of fine beige bubbles that receded quickly to a thin skim and collar, but left behind a fair bit of lace. The head stayed at this level throughout the glass. Malty aroma, some cereal grain, bread crust, dried fruit skins, light alcohol. Sweet with low bitterness, malty, brown sugar, sultana raisins, just a bit of alcohol in the finish. Lingering sweetness. Medium bodied, low carbonation that was very creamy, light warmth, decent texture. Pretty solid overall. It just seemed a little light in body, but quite drinkable.

Slightly hazy dark amber in colour with moderate to low carbonation. Aromas are of strong bready malts, a bit of orange marmalade, and the faintest wiff of flowers. More bready malts in the mouth, along with roasted nuts, honey, and booze. Heavy on the palate, without being overly sweet. I like that it's low on esters. Would be nice on a cool autumn evening.

Pours a dark copper/amber with little head. Some light beige lacing. Nose- fragrant malts and bread. Taste- honey, toasty malts, nuts. Finishes fairly dry and a little heat from the alcohol and nutty. Medium to thick mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Pretty easy drinking scotch ale.

341ml wax-capped bottle poured into my Half Pints glass. The two year anniversary seasonal.

Pours a deep, clear, reddish-brown-orange colour capped by a 1/2 inch of tan head off a vigorous pour. Some nice wet lacing. Aroma is very malty, as expected, sweet, but not cloying. Some husky grains, cocoa, dark fruits, and brown sugar. Simple but enjoyable.

The taste is malty as all hell. Bready, warm, full of delicious baking treats, and dare I say a little christmassy? Definitely warming. There's hints of spices in the background beneath all the malt and fruity sweetness. Molasses, butterscotch, perhaps a little heather and an touch of saltiness. Very smooth all over the palate with a medium body, just enough carbonation. This strikes such a nice balance compared to many cloyingly sweet scotch ales out there, you know who you are, and it's exceptionally smooth and drinkable. Dangerously so actually, it slides down ridiculously easily. Good job on this one Dave and Co!
