Big thanks to wordemupg for this treat from the prairies!
Appearance. Pours a clear orange-gold with a thin white head.
Smell. Nice big citrus fruits that I could smell as soon as I cracked the bottle. Oranges, grapefruits, even some lime. Some tropical fruits too, maybe guava or passionfruit ...okay, now I'm just talking out of my ass. Anyways, plenty of caramel and roasted sweet wheat, just a hint of booze.
Taste. Wow, big sugary sweetness ...honey, light brown sugar, Some bitter hops, with something like dried mixed citrus rinds. The toasted wheat is there in a caramelized sort of way. Some slight acidity, like red apples maybe? Complex and very nice.
Mouthfeel. Very full body, a little sticky but that slight acidity helps. Medium-low carbonation. Pretty good for what this sugary, booze loaded monster is.
Overall. I love it when a sweet, almost dessert-like beer is this tasty and drinkable. Pretty rare too, for me anyways. Thanks again, and great suggestion wordemupg!!

Overly sweet, but maybe just not my cup of tea.

Shared this bottle with a buddy, decanted into a tulip glass. A medium golden amber brew with a peach-like reddish cast and a moderate amount of off-white foam, one can detect the sweet tropical character of this brew even during the pour. Aroma is a veritable fruit bowl, tons of boozy canned peaches, papaya, mango, overripe pears, candied mandarins and grapefruit, all floating on top of a sweet honey and toffee backbone. Some pungent piney hop elements are apparent as well. Smells like an extra-sweet DIPA, really. Palate largely follows suit, with more peach and tropical fruit sweetness, honey, sweet and sour ginger sauce, lemon-lime juice, and pine resin that builds and builds. The resinous peppery C-hop character really gathers steam but never quite overcomes the honey sweetness. Fusel alcohols detectable but not super aggressive. Sweet citrus and tropical beginning, sweet honey middle, and sweet yet also dry resinous finish, a yin and yang fusion. Thick and syrupy, smooth, and pungently medicinal. If I have one complaint its that the honey is perhaps too assertive, yet the expert hopping does nullify some of the sweetness and the overall impression is that of a complex and assertive wheatwine-DIPA hybrid that warms you up nicely on a shitty snowy Calgary evening in March.

Poured from the bottle into a stemmed tapered wine glass.
A nice deep orange apricot body, looks slightly unfiltered with nice ruby grapefruit like hues of red. Head is fleeting with a thin off white to tan collar, always leaves a nice collar while drinking with some soapy large, but mostly thin bubbles.
Soft chewy nose of malt, and good fruit. Mix of tropical papaya, and hop herbal spice qualities. A bit musty as well, with almost must like grape qualities and some slight dank earth.
Palate comes with a very thick sugary syrup body, but with some control. Huge resin like coating and viscous oily finish. Lots of brown sugar and honey sweetness and tropical juice matching qualities. Chewy wheat body depth seems to be a little downplayed but the backbone is there supporting the flavors. Hop lingering bitterness on the finish match the tropical nose, with pineapple and a spicy herbal quality as well.
Overall this almost comes out like a braggot or a mead, but it's still pretty solid but has a good amount of sweetness. A nice seasonal sipper from these guys.

Bottle of this stuff from kjost a while back. Thanks again for that awesome swap a couple years back. We should do it again sometime.
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 75
APPEARANCE: Pours a small, medium looking, off-white head with decent retention. Head fades quickly to a faint wisp. Hazy burnt orange in color with lower levels of carbonation evident. A splotchy wisp remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Decent hop nose on this one, with caramel and toffee notes as well. Some light citrus aromas and spicy aromas as well. Bold enough.
TASTE: Caramel and toffee up front, with a touch of wheat and citrus hops at the swallow. Sweet aftertaste of toffee, some candy notes, spicy alcohol and a hint of hop and grapefruit bitterness lingering on the palate.
PALATE: Medium-full body with medium levels of carbonation evident. Very creamy on the palate, goes down smooth with a bit of a burn and finishes mouth-coating. Really nice feel here.
OVERALL: Good stuff! This brewery has put out some real beauties for sure. I do think this one was probably a little more impressive fresh, as the hop profile would have been more assertive, but as it is now, it is a very enjoyable and interesting brew. If you get the chance, definitely take a crack at this one. Thanks again kjost. Cheers!

Girlfriend brought me this in the Spring. Assuming it's the 2012 version. From notes.
A - Hazy copper pour with good carbonation and a one finger white head that left no lace and a film of retention all the way through. Expected for the high ABV.
S - Dark fruit, really nice sugar element that wasn't too strong, port.
T - Sugary to start off. Nice fruit, grapes, candied orange. Seemed really sweet. Lot's of dark fruit, port, toffee. Complex for sure.
M - Nice carbonation, full body, dry and slightly sweet to finish.
O/D - Initially this was too sweet. Not cloying, but just too sweet. It grew on me though and mellowed out. Opened up well to be a nice and complex sipper full of great flavours. ABV was well masked. Nicely done.

2011 edition, hops have faded to a braggot like sweetness, with oats mouthfeel. Smooth and sweet from the honey. Boozy, orange, edges of a head. Big wheat, it all disappears into the honey. Lace sheet. Even too sweet for me whatever you call the style.
