Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Clouded yellow gold with a finger of foamy white head, medium lacing
S - Biscuit and cracker malt, grass, lemon zest, pine, orange.
T - Nearly the same thing as the aroma, just very generic.
M - Clean lighter body.
O - Par for this course, this could easily be a pale ale for some other breweries.

Pretty good session IPA. I think the page for this beer needs to be updated, looks like when it was set up it was a small batch release, but I believe this is being distributed more widely now by Smutty. Cool graphic on the bottle of a guy with some sick bounce house moves. Good amount of hoppiness, citrus, and I think I had a little spruce as well, more flavor than you get in some session beers. This will make a good fall beer for football watching on a Sunday afternoon if you're trying to find something to accompany a three game stretch. Nice stuff.

Smutty's new session IPA.

Fun label graphic of two women bouncing our way.

Best By 10/30/14. A six month estimated lifespan would suggest this was bottled at the end of April and is now two months old. Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Lawson's tulip.

a: Nearly clear orange with an inch tall white head which receded quickly to thin surface foam and spotty lacing.

s: Mild citrus.

t: Considerable bitter orange/grapefruit up front over a light malt base. Bitterness lingers at the sides of the tongue. The citrus notes are somewhat retained but turn more resiny later.

m: Light to medium. Good body. Moderate carbonation tingle.

o; One of the more hoppy of the new session IPAs everyone is coming out with. Refreshing. , although the overall bitterness does tend to grate a bit after awhile. Still this would rank as one of the top session IPAs out there.

It is becoming a Smuttynose afternoon here in Chez Woody's kitchen as the World Cup rages on! I picked this up at The Fridge a few weeks ago in honor of my former colleague, Spike, who wants to operate a Bouncy House as a sideline gig. I keep wondering, to her and others, would Beyonce play House Music while doing the bouncy-bouncy in a Bouncy House? Spike could not answer that one, but I fear that her business idea may have dried up and blown away in the interim. What? Enough?!? Onward!

From the bottle: I think that there must be multiple labels. Mine depicts a thin-faced blonde in the foreground , holding hands with a tattooed, curly-haired redhead. "Brewing fine beers in NH since 1994."; "Make mine a Smutty!"; "All-Occasion American Ale"; "Come visit our brewery and restaurant at Towle Farm in Hampton, New Hampshire. And check us out online at smuttynose.com for events, releases and great Smerchandise in our e-store. As always, thanks for saying: Make mine a Smutty!"

It has been quite an afternoon and since I have the USA and Belgium, two beer-notable countries, on the telly, I went with a heavy-handed pour to celebrate. Nice pseudo-cascading action resulted in just under three fingers of dense, bone-white head that looked like marshmallow Fluf. Hee. Color was an oh-so-slightly hazy golden-yellow (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose smelled of lemon zest, fresh grapefruit, tangy papaya or mango and boy, was my mouth watering in anticipation. Warming, I also got a sweet coconut smell and man, I was ready to get Bouncy! Mouthfeel was medium and the tropical favors just seemed to pop on my tongue. I keep thinking of a roll of Tropical Fruit Life Savers from when I was a kid and we would stuff our cheeks with one of each flavor. Finish was dry, but not gaspingly so. It managed to evince just enough sweetness to keep it just right and eminently drinkable. Beyonce would be proud to bounce with one of these!

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a yellowish color and a hazy texture. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. OK lacing.

S: A decent, predictable aroma of hops, citrus, and malt.

T: This one really comes off the rails with the flavor. It has some nice traces of fruit and malt, but the hops content is way out of whack. It's not masked well (or there's a disproportionate amount of them), and comes off as harsh and overly bitter.

M: A pretty good amount of carbonation with a super bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Not one of Smuttynose's better efforts. While some of the components are alright, the flavor just fails. Could have been better.
