Pours dark black with a thin brown ring for a head. Little carbonation on this one as you'd expect from a beer that's been aging for four years in apple brandy barrels. Strong brandy, oak and vanilla flavors come to the nose first followed by some dark chocolate flavors. All the flavors on the nose blend so well on the taste. Awesomeness throughout the mouth. Full bodied, light carbonation, and some sticky lips. A home run by the Smuttlabs!

Wow was extremely impressed by this beer! I have now had AB panther and DBH and this is just behind DBH. Great feell... Nothing but apple brandy in the nose. No carbonation but it doesn't really affect the beer. Taste is DBH w/o the rum and huna pepper heat. Great job by smutty!

A- Basically black. Slides into the glass with no head to speak of. Slick and still.

S- Wow. Intense amounts of bandy notes with the apples and vanilla. Roasted malts with copious amounts of milk chocolate on the back end. Stunning.

T- A great balance of the roasted, malty goodness with the barrel character. The brandy is more toned down than the nose led me to believe, but still outstanding. The sweet notes hang around without ever becoming cloying. Some caramel comes through as well.

M- Full and creamy. When warmed up to room temp it goes down a bit chewy. A slight warmth in the finish. Basically no carbonation

O- Really, really impressive work here. Would love to try the base without the barrel aging to compare. Had a DB Huna not too long ago, and this one stands up to it nicely.

Bottle from Bert's
Finally wrangled the cork out and there was no pop. Damn it I got a flat bottle.
Pours a inky oily black color with six or seven small bubbles on the edge of the glass. The aroma is outstanding. Light caramelized sugars and a hint of roasted grain with some pretty solid vinous oaked apple coming through. Hints of toasted coconut and alcohol round this out nicely. The flavor is sweet brown sugary chocolate maltiness with some solid vinous apple coming through. Light oak and vanilla finish us off nicely. Thick body with a non existent level of carbonation and a sweet syrupy mouthfeel. I am so bummed this one had no bubbles because it is an otherwise beautiful beer! If I can find another bottle I will adjust my rating.
