Served in a 16 oz. pint glass in a local pub in St. Augustine, 9/5/2011.
A: Amber malt appearance with noticeable chill haze. Opaque orange/amber red with a nutty head, little lacing on the glass while imbibed.
S: Smell was heavy on the pumpkin and hops. Has an earthy, dirty flavor to the hops component. Probably picked a high alpha hops somewhere in the mix to pronounce a hops flavor vs. the pumpkin spices. Would've been better if a lower alpha hop was used IMHO.
T: Definitely tastes of pumpkin and bitter "dish water" hops. Not as well balanced as others of this type. More of a pumpkin for hop heads, the beer is extremely dry with little malt to balance it out.
M: Finishes dry and bitter. Again, hops lovers will go for this one. I like Weyerbacher's Pumpkin King interpretation better.
O: Not terrible, just not my cup of tea. Pumpkin is pronouced yet the spices of cinnamon, clove, etc. are more subdued. Hops are definitely armed and ready in this beer.
Serving type: on-tap
