Gold colored body with a small amount of carbonation pour leaves a creamy, white, one finger head. It's a little cloudy but there is some nice looking lacing left around the sides of the glass.
Smells citrusy, like grapefruit or even lemons. These aromas are screaming hops!
Tastes more like grapefruit than lemons followed ny some toasty breadiness.
There is a big hop bite right if the bat, the real oily, resinous type of bite. Medium bodied and without a lot of carbonation. Smoothed somewhat in the middle and then finishes with another big hop smack.
This is an excellent ipa. The flavors and aromas are both very big and bold, one that I will continue to purchase.

You don't see this one much in sepa area so I grabbed one up.
Boy was I disappointed. With a B/B date of 7/14/14 this beer should be reasonably fresh.
Pours with a lackluster effort and only after vigorously topping it off did i get a head atop this amber brew.
The aroma was lightly medicinal.
The taste was absent of both malts and hops and replaced with dry and bitingly biter which of course flowed coursely over the palate.
Not much to like here in my opinion.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Big white head with excellent lacing and retention. Beer itself was a cloudy medium brown, with a surprising amount of suspended particulate, settles nicely though.
S - a tart fruit aroma, apple, citrus, quite lemony and grassy, bready malts are noticeable. Peach, pine. Feel like some of the hops have started to fade out of the aroma, fair bit of malt character, also the resins, pine, and grapefruit loom large.
T - smooth earthy hop bitterness, tart lemon rind and lots of tropical grapefruit, apple, hay and notes of lychee, with a bit of a barnyardy tartness. Get a fruit forward start then some woody and earthy notes emerge. Long finish with lots of orange. Smooth feel with fruity and earthy hops, balance is excellent all round and it goes a little different route than most A IPAs but the finish is all bitter.
M - really nice smooth carbonation, moderate body with a zip of astringent bitterness. Sessionable body with a dry hoppy and mineral finish. Light start, with a caramelly sweetness, then the hoppy complexity comes in. Killer smoothness even with the aggressive hopping, lovely. Bitter finish and dry.
An enjoyable IPA that blends American and British influences, more earthy and malt character than typical, meshed with lots of bitterness. Complexity on the palate is really inspiring, quite tasty and exceeded my expectations going in. Definitely worth a try, really solid IPA from Smutty, good heft and flavour, balance is on point. Amarillo hops worked well. Bitterness is strong, but different hop profile make this quite exciting. Worth checking out.
