Appearance - Pours a hazy golden amber with a white, finger width head. Average retention. Leaves behind a fair amount of lacing with nice stick.
Smell - Balanced aroma, with caramel and citrus at the forefront. Underlying grass and bread character, and a faint bit of earth.
Taste - Mellow to start. Bread and caramel round out the malt forwardness of the beer, along with a bit of juicy sweetness, but by mid-taste a hint of earthiness, then a sharp citrus bitterness begins to creep in. Orange and grapefruit pith. Bitterness skyrockets toward the finish, leaving an aggressive, bitter attack which lasts an exceptional amount of time. Ever bite into a grapefruit peel?
Mouthfeel - Light to medium body, with fair carbonation. Somewhat juicy, maybe caused by salivating.
Overall - A great example of an American IPA. Starts with nice balance, but ends strong and bitter. It doesn't kill me that this isn't readily available on the West Coast, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want it to be.

You don't see this one much in sepa area so I grabbed one up.
Boy was I disappointed. With a B/B date of 7/14/14 this beer should be reasonably fresh.
Pours with a lackluster effort and only after vigorously topping it off did i get a head atop this amber brew.
The aroma was lightly medicinal.
The taste was absent of both malts and hops and replaced with dry and bitingly biter which of course flowed coursely over the palate.
Not much to like here in my opinion.
