Appearance – Pours a medium brownish color, almost rustic. Moderate head that has great retention.
Smell – Roasted malt, almost exclusively. Smells like a brown ale should.
Taste – Prevalent malty flavors with some nutty taste on the back, along with some sweetness from the caramel. Absolutely delicious. The prime example of a great brown ale.
Mouthfeel – Well-balanced carbonation and creamy texture. Very smooth and easy to drink. Leaves you wanting more with each and every sip, and then finally leaves you craving more once it's gone.
Overall – One of the (if not THE) finest brown ales I've ever had. I absolutely love this and Sierra Nevada Tumbler. Highly recommend both beers, if you like browns as much as I do.
I've had this beer both on draft and from the bottle. While draft is obviously the superior drinking method, the bottle is every bit as tasty. If you haven't tried this beer, you're missing out.

Poured into a pint glass.
A- Pours a dark reddish brown. Lots of bubbles rising to the surface. About a half finger of head. Head dissipates relatively quickly. Looks nice.
S- Big caramel and toffee, with just a slight nuttiness. No roasted malt that I can detect. It has a wonderful caramel sweetness in the smell, and virtually no hop presence. Really nice.
T- Caramel and toffee gets you almost immediately. Caramel sweetness gives way to nutty character in the aftertaste, but it is still present. Just a bit of hop bitterness. Satisfyingly malty delicious.
M- Pretty medium-bodied. Not chewy but not watery. Pleasant amount of carbonation. Very smooth and easy-drinking.
O- A really impressive brown ale. Just a great beer and one that I will definitely buy with regularity.

Great tasting beer. Caramel taste - very hoppy. If you like heavy american, this is great stuff.
The pour itself was a reddish brown - very deep. The taste was bready with hints of fruit and whisky - very pleasant and smooth. I highly recommend this beer.
