A nice brown, slightly copper colored beer with a light tan one-finger head. Head melts away to nearly nothing after a minute.
Nice, sweet caramel malt aroma. Nothing extremely special or complex, but really good anyway.
Toasty malt flavor. Sweet and slightly grainy. Again, nothing wild or interesting, but still really good. No standout hop flavor or alcohol taste. A lingering sweetness on the tongue.
A nice medium to heavy mouthfeel to carry this beer. And, the carbonation level feels just right.
If you're like me, and you almost instinctually seek out the pale ales and IPAs, this would be a nice breath of fresh air. A reminder of what a simple, good, malty brown ale tastes like. If nothing else, it'll help you appreciate your alpha acids and IBUs when you return to the bitter side. This beer is completely at the other end of the spectrum. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. And I know I'll buy it again.
