Appearance: Pours a pleasant translucent amber/straw with a generous and lingering white head. Healthy lacing.
Smell: The smell is a little faint, it took getting my nose right in the glass a few times to distinguish flavors. Sweet hoppiness, light citrusy hops and apple cider.
Taste: Up front there's a sweet maltiness that gives way to big bitter hops on the back end. Maybe a smattering of clove and cinnamon. Virtually none of the citrus and apple cider promised in the smell. All and all, better than average to good taste.
Mouthfeel: Very sharp carbonation moderate, almost creamy mouthfeel but at times it feels a touch thin.
Drinkability: It's fairly drinkable but the assertive hops makes it a little less drinkable to other maibock. However, given that this beer advertised as a "big beer" the minor deficit in the drinkability should be expected.
