Poured into a snifter.
Extremely dark body with a light brown on the edges. A solid 3 fingers of head (pour carefully), khaki in color. Dissipates rather quickly, but the lacing stays throughout.
Roasted malts predominate giving off coffee and chocolate aromas, giving way to a faint hops and dark fruits.
Quick bite of citrus hops, followed by the roasted malts that remain throughout. Unsweetened chocolate comes to mind, along with coffee/dark fruit edges. Very robust on the malts, making this one of the richest porters had to date. Damn good.
Moderate carbonation with a very pleasant finish, leaving your mouth ready for another. At 5.7%, this one will definitely replace a higher ABV stout without sacrificing the flavor. Awesome.

Best by 10/01/14 at 45 degrees into snifter
Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate
Head large (5.5cm), light brown, fizzy/frothy, rapidly diminishing 3 mm ring
Lacing excellent - thick layer covering inside of glass
Body dark brown/black, opaque
Flavor of bitter roasted malt, dark chocolate, and some coffee; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl. Ends rapidly leaving a slight bitterness behind.
Palate medium, creamy, lively carbonation
A decent porter lacking the fruity esters and hop bitterness.

On tap at Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks, CA.
Pours an opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, char, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of roast and hop aspects.
