Yellow-straw in color, slightly cloudy, small head, slight lace

Citrus, sour wheat smell; kind of a corriander spice aroma.

Very tart with an abundance of wheat flavor. Rather thin. Did I mention tart? What a naughty beer. Puckering aftertaste.

If you like powerful wheat beers, this one might be for you. I prefer smooth hefeweizens. I can't recommend this one; it's too much for me.

I really am trying my best to acquire a test for hefewiezens. But I'm failing completely. Well, here goes...

Appearance: A sickly yellow with hardly any head and no lace.

Smell: Old garbage that's been sitting in a hot apartment all day.

Taste: Makes me think of steamed vegetables. And the wheat aftertaste makes me think of eating mold, but I've never eaten mold so I'm just trying to come up with an apt description that sounds right to me.

Mouthfeel: Alright, this was fine. Slightly carbonated and it rolled around the mouth nicely.

Drinkability: I think this is a matter of taste. But this beer does absolutely nothing for me.

Purchased a six pack in Avalon with a few other weisse beers to bring in the summer. Cute labeling caught my wife's eye. Don't remember seeing any best before notches.
Must be filtered; poured a clear yellow with faint carbonation, if any. Head was only attainable after a hard pour. Even then, it was decidedly short lived and limp.
Just about no aroma at all, even after sticking my nose way far into the brew.
Your average hefe and won't offend most folks. Finishes smooth and clean. Faint malts are the main flavor, nothing else holds up much.
Not very drinkable. Really couldn't hold its own up to the other two weisse we enjoyed over the long weekend. I won't be buying this one again.

Pours hazy light-orange, moderate bubbly head.

Aroma of grain and a very light orange aroma.

Medium body, very smooth. Light grain flavors up front with a very slight banana/citrus flavor. Flavor doesn't really change much until the finish when it loses the fruit flavor and becomes slightly dry.

Not an especially impressive beer. It's certainly refreshing, but I found it really lacking in the flavor department. Probably won't buy again.

This has your typical hefe weizen look. Its cloudy, but a little light with a very nice two finger lacey head. The smell is a full floral, grassy, and lemony scent. This has a decent taste for the genre, but it ends a little weak. There is a very strong lemon, wheat start, but this ends a little watery. The mouthfeel is much too light even for this type of beer.I don't think I would try this again even if I could.

Cute label. The color was very light gold, almost straw yellow. Not really cloudy in appearance, but full of suspended particulates and cruddy yeast. The small head fizzed out quickly and the beer had little to no carbonation. The aroma is light and lemony with some sweet grains coming through as well as some buttery hop character. Pretty weak aroma overall. The taste is light, bittersweet and finishes with a bit of astringency. Light body of malt. Overall, this is very light. Somewhat flavorful with some spicy character and a little tanginess. Not bad, but not that entirely pleasant either.

12 oz brown bottle.

Frothy white head that fades quickly to a thin layer. Lots of lacing that doesn't stick all that well. Yellow and whitish in color with a heavy looking haze.

Very, very faint aromas. Actually tough to pick out the aromas: some citric and wheat but nothing else.

A mild wheat and grain driven flavor with some lemon and light diacetyl. The flavors are not intense at all, which is disappointing considering how attractive the hefe looks. There's no unpleasant bitterness, but it lacks a lot of the flavors true to the style.

Very light on the palate with a decent amount of carbonation. No obtrusive aftertaste. Refreshing, but again the flavors true to the style are simply not present.

Light in terms of flavor and abv%, which is why this hefe is so drinkable. Not one I would recommend at all, but it would be easy to drink these all night without getting too hurt.

Very disappointing considering the promising appearance. It just lacked a lot of flavor IMO. This is one to pass on.

Cloudy, peach colored with a thick off-white head which produced some nice lacing. Just not much here in terms of flavor. Somewhat weak with citrus and lemon that seemed a little watered down. Very easy to drink though, refreshing and still not a bad choice for a hot day. Always looking for a solid summer beer and sure, I'd get it again.

Pours a very transparent light golden, with very little head. A steady stream of bubbles rise up through the beer. Smells of lemons, grass, and hay. I'm not overly impressed so far with this beer. The taste does nothing really to change this--very mild flavor, with some nice dryness in the finish, but otherwise very plain. Thin to watery in feel, but fairly easy drinking--probably a better warm weather beer, although based on this impression I'm not sure if I'll give it a second chance.

Weizenheimer Ale by Smutty Nose- from a holiday variety case.

pours a cloudy yellow with a thin fizzy white head. looks very carbonated.
The smell is wheat, grain, & cloves.
The taste isn't too bad. Lotsa cloves with a slight fruit tinge. Very smooth with no aftertaste.
A very hum-drum beer, not bad but I wouldn't buy a 6 pack of it.

Barrelhouse Brewfest sample #7. A light orange color. Citrusy and somewhat spicy on the nose (allspice?). Very grainy/yeasty tasting with the alcohol phenols having nowhere to hide. Drinkable? Not too many of these, now, it's strong stuff. Reminds me a little bit of Orval, which I'm still trying to learn how to enjoy, but this comes across as a quality attempt.

Poured a cloudy golden orange with steady carbonation, thick white head and solid lacing.

The smell is pungent grain and wheat flavor.

The taste is classic hefe. Grainy and a little of the funky flavor that turns me off of hefes. But for a style I don't like, this is pretty good. Tastes a little like cider.

Mouthfeel is crisp and light.

Drinkability is average. Not great, not bad.

A nice, sweet floral and wheat smell appealed to me instantly. The cloudy appearence made a nice impression at first, particularly with the pale yellow glow it gave off sitting near a table lamp. After looking at it more closely, though, the sediment turned me off some. I like wheat beers to be cloudy, and I'm not skittish about sediment, but this just didn't look good. The dark pieces of sediment moved like things floating in a thick goo.

The taste is pleasant. The hops, which are predominantly in the finish, add a nice bite not present in many beers of the same category. The aftertaste is nicely complex, but there was one element to the finish which I didn't like, but can't quite identify.

The good outweighs the bad in this one, but it's not a brew that's up to the calibur of Smuttynose's great IPA and Big A (Double IPA).

Crystal clear pale straw

Bursting with banana, reminiscent of Runts bananas

Tastes like it smells, with a sweet banana flavor up front followed by the wheat flavor expected in all weizen. Overall dry and crisp, better than most filtered weizen (I prefer my wheat cloudy). Out of Portsmouth New Hampshire

pours a decent looking slightly clody golden colour with a smaller than expected head that's not terribly sticky and not long lasting. not bad, but needs some work. the smell here is pretty average. typical hefe but blander. sweetness overpowers citrus and there's only a slight notice of spice and wheat. the taste here is pretty good, but, again, it seems to be watered down a bit. wheat upfront, with a bit of fizzy citrus and then wheat again in the back. i would have kicked up the carbonation on this one a bit. overall, this isn't a bad brew, but definitely could stand for some tinkering. a decent summer thirst quencher, but not amongst my favourites in the smuttynose family.

Short white head that went quickly, slow carbonation and cloudy yellow color. Nose is wheat and the yeast shows up in the aftertaste. Forced to buy a 12-pak something I rarely do but for me it was new and a required purchase but it isn't bad for a wheat.

Pours a clear yellow hay color with a thin white head. Smells pretty average -- nothing too distinctive or offensive, a light honey tinted floral aroma. Mouthfeel is thin, but smooth and coating with a light carbonation. The taste is sweet and grassy with a hint of spiciness in the aftertaste -- good, but safe and lacking any bitterness or risk. Very easy drinking, but overall a "ho-hum" experience.

Pours a hazy yellow with a small but active white head. No retention and a little lacing. Smells quite yeasty.

Tastes like a decent hefe should. Nice and chewy with a bunch of yeast and lemon efervessence. Quite a bit of carbonation in the middle carries it to a slightly hoppy ending. Nice brew, very drinkable.

Weizenheimer pours to a hazy straw colored yellow with a ½ inch white head that breaks down quite quickly and has hardly any lacing. The smell is of yeast, wheat and a citrus zing. Not a huge fan of hefe’s but it is not bad smelling, quite nice actually. The taste is of clover and a banana fruity flavor makes it a pretty decent brew as well. Over all it was a nice experience, don’t think I would have tried it if it did not come in a variety pack, so I am please that it was the “special” brew.

Poured with a quickly receding foamy head. The body was a cloudy and light golden. Very light banana scent. There was something else in the nose that I liken to sugarless lemon candy. Lenient wheat malt body, with a smooth consistency . Lemon-citrus finish. Lightly carbonated brew. Good, but not great. Not a summer quaffer IMO due to the body being more substantial than some more desirable hefes.

This beer pours a golden color. It is rather clear no yeasties floating about. The smell is some what fruity. There is very little head what so ever. The taste is pleasant: fruity undertones and mild sweetnes. Not a bad take on a hefe. definitely a drinkable beer on a hot summer day. If they all lack the carbonation of this one, enjoy it out of the bottle.

Pours out a hazy golden yellow with about a half-inch of white foam that quickly falls to a light covering of bubbles. Some lace is left around the glass as this was consumed. From my experience most smutty nose product look a lot better in the head department but this was not bad. The smell was of wheat with a lemony zest as well as a bit of spiciness. Grainy cereal like flavors dominate the taste with a citric fruit spice about it. This one ends in a dry finish that leaved you looking for that next sip. Mouthfeel is almost medium with sufficient carbonation. It goes down fairly smooth and refreshing. Overall a solid example of the style that is refreshing and a good thirst quencher.

Pours a clear yellowish orange color with a nice 1+" white head. Some light lacing develops. The aroma is of wheat and grass. The flavor is mild as the wheat tones are soft but are balanced with a bit of spiciness and lightly sour citrus.

The mouthfeel is lightly crisp and dry on the finish. This is on the lighter side of a medium bodied beer. Some small sediment does float in the glass. Carbonation seems a bit weak. Drinkable, but this is most enjoyable as a hot summer day brew.
