A: Pours a clear, pale gold with a thick white head that recedes slowly.

S: Aromas of grain, minerals, crackers, biscuits, lemon, grass, herbs, and honey present themselves on the nose.

T: Notes of lemon, grass, honey, and herbs are fleeting in the mouth, as they are overpowered by flavors of crackers and minerals. The finish is brief and oddly bland-notes of honey, grass, lemon, and biscuit are just barely detectable.

M: On the lighter side of medium in terms of body and not all that dry, especially when compared to traditional examples of the style. Carbonation is far too airy, gentle, and unobtrusive for a lager of this sort. Taken as a whole, this beer feels sort of underpowered.

O: This pilsner was promising to start, but went completely downhill really fast. As far as German pilsners go, this one is seriously lacking in depth and complexity. Smuttynose can do far better and so can fans of this style.

Good starting head that leaves some spots for lace. The liquid is hazy, gold.

A bit sour to the nose. A touch of hop.

The flavor has more pilsner elements than the smell suggests. There's a soft malt start that quickly gives way to the green pepper taste. The finish has some balance, but it leans to the hop. The aftertaste is short-lived. Good body with a low-ish carbonation..

A: Pours a clear light yellow color with a tiny head

S: A good grassy and lightly spicy hop aroma really stands out, along with some light malts

T: Again, grassy and slightly spicy hops stand out, which go along great with a light lemon note and bready malts. Very flavorful

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice pils that is very easy to drink as well as being flavorful. It would be very easy to drink the 4-pack in a sitting. If you're not so into lagers and are questioning whether or not this is worth picking up, I say give it a shot. There aren't too many lager characteristics that really make themselves known, including the yeast which is nice

given a single bottle in Feb 2014. Poured into a Pilsener glass, served at fridge temp.

appearance: hazy honeycomb yellow with a thick soft white head.

smell: lemon citrus with sugary notes. The usual spicy hop bouquest which is Pilsener trait is absent.

taste: thick malt with a vegetal funk.

mouthfeel: decent.

overall: maybe a bad bottle or maybe just bad beer.

Served in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.

It's taken me long enough, but I've finally gotten around to trying out this semi-heralded pils. It pours a clear straw topped by a short finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises strong grass, greens, mild biscuit, and a touch of what may or may not be wintergreen way in the distance. The taste brings in more of the same, noble-style hops really taking the fore without overdoing things. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a straightforwardly crisp finish. Overall, a nice pils, nothing special, but something I could easily drink again.
