Simply says bottle conditioned in 2013.
A: Unfiltered! Huge points already. Beautiful deep golden orange with a frothy, pillowy, bright white head. Lots of lace and decent retention.
S: Very fragrant. Lots of fruit, cedar, grass. Earthy. A bit of spice from the rye is there.
T: Similar to the nose. Big hop profile but the rye really does complement it well. Malty enough to say this is balanced. Hoppy enough to say it's an IPA. And enough rye to satisfy.
M: Incredibly smooth. Seriously. Wow. Creamy, light body that makes it massively drinkable as Smutty intended. The hop resin and rye spice come together in the finish to make this a memorable beer.
O: Everything I expect from the style and from Smutty. Absolutely delicious and a pleasure to drink.

Pours into an impy nonic a dull hazed burnt orange infused medium golden with a terrific tightly formed one finger craterous white head that is not fading in the least bit, just great.Big grapefruit rind-like hops jump out at ya in the nose along with spicy rye,I like the fact that the rye plays a big role, lately some of the "hopped up rye" beers I have had leaves me wanting more rye.A fresh citric hop blasts greets the taste buds with the spicy rye coming in right afterwards making for a nice 1-2 punch,a firm lightly sweet bready base compliments the beer with the alcohol creeping a bit.Maybe the best Smuttynose beer I have had, this is what a big hoppy rye beer should be,fantastic.

Another winner from Smutty.
In a pint glass the beer was a brassy color with a thick white head. There was a lot of lace.
Aroma of citrus and piney hops, more on the citrus side. Spicy rye.
Taste agreed with the aroma. Big grapefruit, some pine. Great rye taste, with a kind of kick to it.
This beer was pleasantly hoppy, but balanced.

Slightly hazed orangey apricot colored with an orangey beige head of thick and dimpled foam that lingers very long. Big hop aroma, resiny pine and orange rind, some toffee and cinnamon.
Big hoppy flavor with a mix of floral and pine, some orange rind. Good malt balance with notes of cinnamon and toffee.
Rich and full mouthfeel, creamy, filling and satisfying. Great beer.

Appears to be muddied orange with a gold glow. (Yeast poured in). Head is modest and leaves a nice foamy layer once it fades. Shifting lace strings and spots. Aroma is sweet, flowery, fruity and peppery. Lemon, tropical something, decaying pine needles, rye aromas and grains. Flavors match. Complimentary rye and hop bitterness that lingers. Pine resin crystals....and earthy too. Mouthfeel is pretty spectacularly tingly. Fluid and foamy. The bitterness continues to push on through. Perhaps a little tooo bitter but overall, yay Smuttynose!

A- copper and hazy, unfiltered so that's a plus
S- Not a huge hope nose like I was expecting from the label. Nice rye backbone though.
T- Taste is sweet and malty with a small hop presence.
M- Creamy but not as bitter as I would have liked. Still a good combination and makes it fairly easy to drink.
This is a decent beer that I would pick up more if it was cheaper

From the big bottle series labeled bottle conditioned 2013. Sampled on September 20, 2013.
It pours a very cloudy orange to golden yellow with this long-lasting light, fluffy off-white head. Decent carbonation.
The nose is floral, grapefruit, and orange mainly with a dash of grainy toasted malts balancing and blending it all together.
The body is medium and smooth.
The taste has an full floral and citrus taste but it is not overly bitter. It is moderately bitter and the bitterness ends dry and lingers briefly on the tail end but it is not overly so. A great variation on the rye IPA style.

22 ounce bottle, stamped with ABV 6.8%. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a hazy golden orange color with about an inch and a half off-white frothy head. Head retention is excellent, and there's a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy (orange, grapefruit) and pine hops, and spicy rye. I think it tastes like the aroma, but with a good balance between the rye and the hops. There's also a long lasting bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and has moderate carbonation. I liked this a lot, and it's priced well at $5.99 a bomber. I'd buy this again!
