Brewed from a combination of eight different malts then served on nitro, Red Rock’s Oatmeal Stout is quite a hit for those looking for a medium to full bodied Ale. Our Oatmeal Stout boasts a roasted flavor with malty characteristics. With its slight chocolate, coffee overtones and silky smooth finish, Oatmeal Stout pairs beautifully with a sweet dessert such as our delectable cheesecake!

500ml bottle (as per usual with Red Rock) bottled 03/22
Pours a deep black with a small tan head
Coffee and roasty aroma
Dark, coffee bitterness and roasty notes
Fairly light body for a dark beer, but in my opinion the carbo was too high/much

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: nice black/brown with plenty of haze and a finger of creamy tan foam. The nitro helps here.
Smell: a little toasty, sweet and caramelly, but the volume needs to be turned up a bit.
Taste: there's some char, some yeast, plenty of dryness and a dash of bitter. It's a balanced, tasty (dry) oatmeal stout.
Mouthfeel: light body with OK carbonation. The nitro doesn't help here.
Overall: the perfect session stout. It's impressive what they're doing with low-ABV beers here in Utah.

An oatmeal stout that is nothing more than a 4% Utah beer. After living in Utah for a while, I have gotten tired of these beers and the breweries producing beers that don't typically run at 4%. This beer has just subtle aroma of chocolate and mild chocolate flavor with very little (if any) malt. The nitro is a sad attempt to make up for the mouthfeel. If you drink this with flavorful food, the beer becomes basically water. This isn't all disrespect to Red Rock. They make good beers including Paardebloem. But when it comes to 4% beers (thanks to Utah government) you save more money just drinking plain water.
