Went here with my parents and grandfather this weekend and I believe that is fills a niche between restaurant and beer bar. The atmosphere is really modeled after german beer halls. I'll admit its cheesy, but its sort of... cute. (don't tell anyone i used that word) My family enjoyed the food, I had some meat and noodle thing that was good. Menu is mostly German cuisine, but there also some nice PNW favorites; seafood, salads and the like. Beer selection is impressive for a restaurant. They had some Hofbrau, weihenstephaner, paulaner, spaten. In total about 18ish taps of true quality German beer. I appreciate that they serve authentic german beers, it's something you don't see much of here in the PNW. Also represented are a small selection of local beers and import bottles like Stella. Our server was nice, nothing to complain about as he did a good job. I think this is a great establishment if you are looking for a mellow meal and a quality beer.

I've been here once for dinner and once to meet a friend for happy hour. Gustav's has a great bar. The arrangement of it is well thought out. There are plenty of TVs to watch sports. The tap selection is fine. The bartenders are generally pretty attentive and happy hour is a plus. The food is alright and some of it complements the beer well and vice-versa.

The restaurant is less favorable to me than the bar but I enjoy the food from time to time. The exterior is a bit of a turn off with it's bright commercialized presence.

One of the better places in Vancouver in which to have a beer. The bar has a German beer hall feel to it, with high ceilings, lots of blonde wood and a very pretty, large stained glass window to let in light for those many dark, grey PNW days. The place is very clean and inviting.

The beer selection is great and they typically have a special or two on tap. About a week ago it was an organic wheat beer from Germany - sorry I don't remember the name, but it was tasty.

Food and service are nice as well. I like the schinitzels while my wife likes the dungeness crab fondue. One imporvement would be the TV situation - they are small and high up, hard to see. This may a plus for some however.

I'd describe this place as Macaroni Grill meets German beer hall. The look and feel is nice but it's certainly contrived and not particularly authentic. They do have a good selection of German beers (especially the Spaten line) though along with a few locals. And they offer a 24oz stein which is a must for any German beer establishment. I had one of Spaten Bock. I'm not a huge German beer fan but I enjoyed it.

And I was surprised by the food. They have a happy hour which I managed to catch and they have some great deals. I had a Caesar Salad and Bier Sausage Sandwich which were both very good. And at happy hour, they were only $2.99 each.

The crowd is a little older and more focus on the local shopping than in my typical haunts but this place isn't bad. I'll be staying close by so I plan to go back before heading home. Stop in and see what you think.

Best beer selection in Vancouver. 20 beers tap with 6 or so by the bottle. Heavy focus on true German bier. Had the entire Spaten lineup. The manager boasts that they sell more Spaten at the 4 Gustav's restaurants in Portland/Vancouver than anywhere outside of Germany. Great traditional European brews as well. Pilsner Urquel, Franziskaner, Konig Weiss, Bass, Stella, and some fantastic northwest craft brews. The seasonal rotator is always a good choice. Beer sampler platter available. Some of the best food in the northwest coupled with super service by friendly and knowledgable staff. Also a great place to find some 'hard to find' Belgian and German Specialties in the bottle. Fantastic desserts. Fondue is a must! Check this place out!
