Handsome coppery color with a decent foam and plenty of lacing in the "true pint" English style glass. Pleasantly spritzy but not overly carbonated. A light mouthful, but with a surprising malt body.

Sweet, malty, and winey. Just a scratch of bitterness with a twiggy and woody bite. Roasted malt with a sweet tang. Hints of chestnuts and walnut skins.

Thoroughly drinkable, it's like a more interesting Brown Ale with a splash of ESB. On tap at the brewpub in Trolley Square.

Pours a nice dark amber in color, nice carbonation, nice head, and some nice lacing afterwards. Scents of malts, and caramel. The taste is slightly of sweet malts, caramel, with a little bite in the finish. Medium body. Drinkable, a pretty tasty steamer in my book, different than an Anchor Steam though.

A basic "steamboat" style lager. Pours with a deep amber color and a thin, quickly-dispersing head. Has a slight yeasty smell, with only a hint of hops. However, the taste is a bit lacking---little yeast, little malt, with a very watery mouthfeel, leaving you feeling that the beer lacks substance. Not a bad lager, but there are many better lagers out there, and better taps available at Desert Edge.

The deep dark heavy amber color lends hope that this beer will be much more flavorful than the others at the pub, but no luck. The yeasty lager character and Northern Brewer hops which give a steam beer its trademark flavor is light enough in this beer to warrant giving it the boot.
