Went here about a month ago. The atmosphere is of a dark/hipster/hippie joint. One large stage is immediately on the right as you enter. The music was very entertaining (pop and then a folk/rock band). There is a library of books along the left wall surrounding a few booths. A back room contains a few couches and recliners around a central area for lazing. There are roughly 20 taps to go along with 75 different types of bottled beer. The prices and availability of both were good. The service was friendly, but not very knowledgeable. The main draw-back of this place has to be hands down, the restrooms. I've been informed that they are purposefully kept this way to deter vandalism and theft. The restrooms are too hard to describe here, but trust me they are just awful - I'd much much rather go outside in the alley.

So the Blue Fugue is this super funky, arty, divey spot with live music most nights, open mic nights, and a GIANT beer list. The problem is they are always out of at least a third of their beers. I am part owner of a bar restaurant that is 2 blocks away from the Fugue, but we are in no way competion. Sycamore is what you would consider "fine dining", while the Fugue is pure "alternative college bar". I go there about once a month, usually on a Monday, because they have 1/2 price Belgian beers. Another problem is their Belgian beer prices are rediculously high. 1/2 price there is about what you would expect to spend elsewhere; but, like I said, their selection is large, and I can usually find something I haven't tried. Another issue for many, is they, regardless of Columbias rules, continue to allow people to smoke. Basically, if you want a loud, smokey, funky, alternative kind of experience, where you can a have a few really good brews, Blue Fugue is for you. I gave a 3.0 for atmosphere because I really like it, but know that I am, among people who are serious about beer, in the minority. I gave 2.5 for selection because they are always out of so much that is on their list. They also have huge selections of Bourbon, Scotch, Tequila...
