One of the great finds on the Outer Banks. This place looks like a regular bar, comfortable but nothing special. Pool room on the right and bar and restaurant on the left. The food is out of this world!!! Excellent seafood, nicely prepared...not the usual fried platter only type restaurant that you see on the Outer Banks. Service is good...better when less crowded. They must have at least 30 beers available on tap and bottled. Chimay Tripel on tap, several Brooklyn brewery brews, some Sam Adams and a few I haven't heard of. A "must" stop on an Outer Banks vacation.

18 taps with only one macro.(blue moon) Tap list included dragon milk, stone ipa, andy gator and other decent taps. Bartendender was attentive, communicative and new her beers. Game fish burito was excellent. The only bar in the area that does not feel like a kids pay house. Able to carry a conversaion easily and the atmosphere was great. I will return as soon as I am able to make it dwn to the outer banks. There are other decent bars in the area, but this is most relaxing. OBX brewing has local beers and tavern 12 has a better bottle selection, but I can hang out in this the best

Being from PA myself, I am little surprised that the last two reviewers gave such a high score - I know that in Philly you have some real beer bars. This isn't a bad place at all; just not what I'd call a beer bar. Server was extremely nice, they have bands at night and everything is chill, and the food is served quick (although it is only of average bar quality). As far as the beer they have about 10 bottles of domestics and seperate themselves from any ol' bar w/ their 18 tap selection. DFH, Chimay, Victory Golden Monkey...while I give them kudos for sticking some higher-priced "major" micros rather than just Bud and Pabst (which are on tap), there isn't anything that makes me call this a beer bar. Of course, since it is the only place serving these beers in OBX you might as well stop here (after OBB) if you're looking for a drink.

This has been my "go to" place every year when doing the Outer Banks. Good beer selection at reasonable prices served in the proper glassware. Chimay, Brooklyn Lager and a lot of the usual solid choices. What more can one ask when away from the Philly area.

Prompt service and great food. We always try to time it that we get there around five or so. Waiting much later may subject you to a wait.

Well worth the 11 mile drive from Southern Shores. We generally hit this place two times during the week we are at the shore. A real gem.

Stopped for dinner on last day of vacation.

Stopped in around 7PM and the place was packed. There was a hour wait for a table but lucky for us, 3 bar stools opened up.

Tap selection is the best for micro's on the OBX. 17 craft + PBR. Mostly the usual suspects like Victory, DF, Guinness etc...but what I really like is having the North Carolina beers that are not available in my area. I am especially impressed with Highland Brewing. I had the Highland Oatmeal Porter and Highland Scotch Ale and both were top notch beers. I also tasted a new one that I have not had before called Big Boss Brewing out of Raliegh. I had the Big Boss Brown and it was very good.

For a resort area, price is reasonable for a pint at $4.50. Chimay is $8 but this is the only place on the OBX that you will find Chimay on tap.
The food is very good and reasonably priced as well. Had the Gamefish Burrito, excellent.

Overall: This is the best place for Tap Beer in the OBX, bottles not so great. If want bottles, go to Chips. Great place and atmosphere. This is really a family friendly place that also happens to have good tap beer.

Pretty impressed at the selection offered by the Red Drum. This is the outer banks, and good draught beers are hard to come by. Here, you can get a chalice of chimay or a pint of dogfishhead 90, nice! Also on tap were a few NC beers as well as the ubiquitous bass, stella and guiness. I was very happy to see that no BMC beers occupied any of the taps, they were available in the bottle or can only. The food was good, I had a burger which was very tasty. My dinner companions tried their more expensive seafood dishes and were very happy with their selection. The Drum is fairly small and was busy with a mostly local clientel, looks like a popular spot for the locals. I'd definitely head back there if in the area again.

I enjoyed my brief visit here on the last night of my OBX trip. A very welcoming and friendly atmosphere with good service. The Red Drum has 18 beers on-tap, and althought I do not know how frequently the selections are rotated the top choices during my stay appeared to be DFH 90 min, Chimay Tripel, and Bell's Oberon. I had the Oberon and 90 min, and of course enjoyed both although the 90 min was brought in a significantly smaller glass than the pint of Oberon. Chimay was $7 in a chalice, and if I went back that would have been my choice. You will find a very fun and upbeat atmosphere here and there is a nice gameroom available for you (or your kids) while you are enjoying dinner, and of course your drinks.

A nice litttle bar, about a block off the beach near MP 10 in Nags Head.

Atmosphere was comfortable. Bar seating for about 20, tables for another 50 or so. Focus seemed to be more on the restaurant side of things. A couple of TVs overhead if you are interested.

Quality was fine for the beer I had. I cheated though -- I ordered a Fest beer from Weeping Radish, so it was in season and only had to travel about 15 miles.

Service was prompt and friendly. Seemed knowledgeable.

Selection was not fantastic, but it was a good place to get a beer. They had 17 or so taps, half of which were the good stuff. North Coast, Weeping Radish, DFH, Chimay, Pyramid, Lindemans, SNPA, and Highlands. Another reviewer commented that this place might not qualify as a beer destination, and he is probably right. You aren't likely to find anything incredibly rare, but they did have the best tap selection I saw while I was there. Bottle list had nothing of interest on it.

I checked out the menu and the food looked interesting, but this is also what led me to put the value rating at $$$. Entrees were all $20 plus, and bar standards were fairly high as well.

Overall, a nice place to grab a beer. Seemed like good folks run it. Food looked interesting, so I might have to give it a try next time I am down there.
