Presentation: bottle from France 44 in Minneapolis served in a pint glass

A: hazy off amber to burnt orange color with a thick white head that lingers for a bit

S: slight hop aroma, mineral or metallic smell, with a small amount of bready malt underneath. Not pleasant but not overly bad either.

T: buttery, probably diactyl, and slick. Some maltiness and no real hop character at all, taste or bitterness. Lingering astringentcy.

M: slick, watery, and a lingering sweetness.

D: negative tastes build and overshadow the beer.

Overall: not a great beer. Seems to have a couple of clear flaws, and none of the crisp, light hop on malt of the style. A clear miss. I've done two bottles of Furthermore tonight, and unimpressed, though I seem to be below other raters. The defects aren't skunk or light struck, so seems to be from brewing rather than handling.

A=Nice golden yellow with generous white foam head.
S= Fair--slightly sweet aroma, most similar to lemondade.
T=Caramel and bread surfaces when warmer.
M=Very light body, and almost no carbonation.
O=Despite the overly light body, the flavor comes through in the finish...I won't go out of my way to find this beer again, but may revisit it if I find it on tap.

I really like this beer. I keep it at cellar temp and drink at least two at a time. I think it is a good representation of an English pale ale which seems to be a style that is not brewed very often in the states.

There seems to be a difference between the tap product and the bottled beer, judging from the reviews which perhaps the brewery needs to work on. The bottled brew at cellar temp is very delicate with little head or lace apparently unlike the tap product. Like most English ales, this one should be drunk at 45-55 degrees to get the most flavor out of it. The beer is deep golden in color with an amber hue and slightly floral in character with a light mouthfeel and vaguely sweet but balanced flavor and clean finish.

I believe this beer was originally brewed for American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin, a theater company that does Shakespeare (and other works) in an outdoor setting near Spring Green. I think it is a very, dare I say it, "proper" beer for that setting and also for anyone who enjoys the EPA style.

Soft grainy character and nicely blended and balanced earthy English hops. Bit of a watery character representative of a light ale.
Cloudy golden amber and nicely dense whitish head with good lacing.
Again with a lighter presentation representative of a session beer style. Less grainy malt than compared to the aroma. Very soft bittering, but a more evident hop flavor. Flavors are less distinct than the aroma and much more blended. There is a prickliness in the carbonation that lends a sharpness to the hop flavors in particular. Also a bigger feel than one would expect from a smaller beer.
I like this beer. A nice afternoon beer and probably since it is so balanced a good beer for most foods.

appearance:
Pours a perfect, translucent amber color with plenty of sediment hanging in suspension. A thin, white ring around the glass was all that remained after a few minutes of pouring. Carbonation is light,

Aroma:
Nice malty base with pecans and praline playing the lead roles. Light sweetness that reminds me of brown sugar. There is also a light mustiness that adds a bit of character and I like it quite a bit.

Taste:
Nothing special, but enjoyable - reminds me of a loaf of nut bread. Simple caramel cues. Faint orange on the tail end.

Mouthfeel:
Easy to drink, medium-bodied beer. Carbonation is hardly noticeable. Finish is semi-dry.

Overall:
This one easy to drink beer. It's not heavy and it's not complex but it has character, making it a fantastic session beer.

Fresh bottle from the Beer Temple.
Bottom of the bottle is dated "3057", not sure if it's a relevant Julian date.

Dark saturated orange with a finger or so of dense foam, arcs of spindly lace in the glass, lasting skim across the surface. A closer inspection reveals suspended microparticles in the bottom of the glass.

Estery dried fruit aroma, some minor nutty malt sweetness.

Lightly fruity and nutty, sweet maltiness, dry finish with minimal bitterness. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation. Slight astringency from the CO2, but pretty clean and easy drinking. Not bad.
