Slightly hazy, light amber coloring, thick, bone-white head, leaving lace.

Aroma: dank hops, dark malts. a little sweet and fruity, but hop bitterness on top. a bit of a muddle, though, nothing really stands out and takes attention.

Taste: Bold entrance on the palate, fresh hoppiness, and then swiftly fading back. Medium-bodied, with a blase' finish. No ABV given, doesn't feel too high, though…could be wrong. The soon-gone hop attack is a disappointment. In general, I'm feeling disappointed. There's some caramel and chocolate malt flavor appearing on the palate that don't quite mesh well with piney, citric hop presence. Again, it's a mixed-up meddle that doesn't come together very well in the mouth. Leaves me feeling unfulfilled.

Blah. I don't enjoy saying it about a Furthermore beer, but this is one of the least satisfying double IPAs I've ever encountered. If I could turn back time, I'd have found something else to spend $9.99 on than this 6-pack. Curse this desire of mine to "try 'em all"!

Hey, what's the label say? "Local hops added for extra Wisconsin-ness.--A Furthermore Beer brewed and bottled by Milwaukee Brewing Company, Wilwaukee, WI." Oh.

I saw in their description that on the bottle they call it a dipa but elsewhere an ipa, which puzzled me. Then I tasted it and it actually seems more like an ok pale ale with good body. Maybe because of the strength. Whatever. Not really, bad, just not too good either.

Pured into a goblet, probably too cold. Appearance: rich cloudy gold. Smell: lightly sweet And yeasty.Taste: sweet and tart, very peppery and lingers bitter. Mouthfeel: Much lighter body than your typical Double. Though you do get the sense of respectable abv in the quality of the underlying malty sweetness.
Overall: Meh, not bad but not great, probably wouldn't get again, but wouldn't snub one if handed to me.

The Furthermore site puts the abv at 7.5%

Pours a finger of white head over a clear, thin, amber liquid. The foam dissipates quickly, but the lacing sticks hard.

A tame, somewhat musty, peppery, aroma of mildly citrusy hops. Very little malt in the nose.

None of the malty caramel or sweet bread that I want in a IIPA. The hoppy citrus character is that of bitter grapefruit, rather than sweet orange or sweet tropical fruit. Some pine on the back end, finishing double-dry.

Thin body, medium to high carbonation.

Certainly worth the $8 for this 4-pack. But almost completely lacking in sweetness or malt. (Here comes a tad bit of sweetness, as the beer warms.) With so many really wonderful IIPA's out there, I doubt I'll buy this again soon.

Notes from the back of a coaster dated 11-20-13.

Poured into 8 oz. glass on tap at Ed's in Winona. Clear dark gold color with a thin but very retentive beige head.

Biscuit, toffee, and caramel aroma with plenty of hops; piney, resin, and bright citrus.

Flavor is mostly hoppy; floral, fruity, and lots of resin. Bready and a strangely roasted finish, not particular common for the style.

Medium-bodied and moderate carbonation. Smooth and silky mouthfeel.

Overall complex and well-balanced for a IIPA. Lots of hop flavors, but also a lot of malts. Alcohol content is fairly well-hidden.

Appearance: Gold, good head.

Smell: Vegetal, toffee.

Taste: Toffee, mild tea-like bitterness.

Overall: I've liked Furthermore's beers because they are unique, but their take on the double IPA misses badly. It smells and tastes like a regular strength English pale ale, with toffee and tea bitterness. I wouldn't call it an English double pale/IPA either, just seems weak.

A: Two finger tall bright white head with tiny bubbles that receeds fairly quickly. The beer is a slightly hazy marmalade orange color with a liiitle bit of haze.

S: Cider like aroma almost tart. Slightly bready and doughy almost no hop aroma detected.

T: Moderate to strong grapefruit bitterness but its more of a dulled flavor. A white bread malt flavor that keeps the hops from being more interesting. thats about it..

M: Thin mouthfeel with a dry finish, and moderate carbonation.

O: Bleh... For a double IPA this thing sure is malt forward. Its bitter sure, but theres very little hop flavor or aroma. Most of the flavor comes from the malts. if you like your DIPAs like a super bitter kolsch? then maybe this is up your alley.

poured 12 oz bottle into snifter.

A - Nice dark copper color with white 1 finger head. Retention is minimal and yields a thing ring around glass. Slight spotty lacing.

S - Earthy and dank hops with some pine and hints of bitter citrus. Some malt sweetness of caramel and honey.

T - Starts off with some malt sweetness of caramel and honey, maybe some breadiness. Midway through some earthy, floral dank hops make an appearance. Finishes with some bitterness and minimal citrus.

M - A bit thinner than I would like a IIPA, but not bad. Carbonation is light and it is oily and slick. Bitterness does linger for a bit.

O - This is a pretty decent WI IIPA for the price and uses local WI hops. Not overly hoppy, but the flavor is good. I'd have it again.
