Tinder is a German-style Rauchbier (Smoked Beer) that kindles moderate malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.

Aromatic, bright and balanced, Tinder is bottle conditioned and has an ABV of 6.5%. Scheduled to hit select shelves in late January, Tinder is a limited release beer, only 180bbls were brewed.

Pours a nice slightly cloudy darker yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick creamy one-finger plus white head, lots of sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, slightly smoky, slightly nutty. The taste is sweet, malty, nice smoke note. Medium body, with a slightly dry/bitter finish. Overall a pretty tasty brew.

750ml. Dark golden pour, half finger of frothy white head. Sticks just barely to the glass.

Aroma, meaty campfire, some grainy hay like malt, caramel, grass.

Taste, Gentle caramel ramps up with the beachwood smoke. A real nice gentle malt backbone. A slight herbal grassiness and bitterness. BBQ smoke lingers nicely.

Real smooth real easy drinking. Mouthcoating creamy mouthfeel. No alcohol presence.
May be the best example I've had since visiting Bamberg.

Smells like wood chips, tastes like sitting around a camp fire. Very unique Smoked Lager, completely different from anything I've had that has classified itself as smoked anything. This beer had a special smell/flavor/mouthfeel all it's own. It's extremely rare to find a beer that is this different from anything else AND still be a good, tasty beer. LOVED it!

Bottled on 1/08/14.Pours into a half liter stein a brilliant clear copper with a large blooming white rockycrown that takes forever to settle into a frothy mass.Meaty smokiness in the nose with mild caramel and brown sugar sweetness underneath all the smoke.A smooth creamy mouthfeel makes for easy drinking.Smoke obviously is the main flavor compoent but it isn't in your face, mild sweet dough, pepper, and iron are also thrown into the mix,a bit of toast is more prevalent as I drink more.Pretty easy going down for the size and the feel is great,a solid smoked lager here.

750 ml bottle, bottled on 1/22/14. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a huge fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is smokey campfire with a little sweet malt.

The flavor is sweet malt with a lot of heavy smoke. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, it's a nice smoke beer, but a little much on the sweet side.

Pours an orange-brown hue with 1/2 inch head. Very solid beer. Smoky, medium bodied, and very clean. While I like German versions better, this is a great traditional take on the style.

I am drinking a bomber bottled 1-29-15.
L: Pours brilliant copper tinted gold under a 3” finely bubbled dense cream colored clingy foam collar.
S: The smoke is midway between Brauerei Spezial and Aecht Schlenkerla with smoke, bacon and light malt aromas.
T: Smoke, bacon, rich malts, traces of caramel, a residual background sweetness comprise the palate. The malty caramel flavors and the smoke play well together.
F: Very creamy with a medium body to just a shade above. It sits very softly in the mouth with medium levels of carbonation.
O: The big malt flavors and the smokiness work well together.

I have really grown to respect the Crooked Line series from Uinta. This is a pretty good take on a German smoked lager. Not as in your face as say some of the Aecht beers but the smoke is nice and plays it's roll well by adding a subtle layer to what what I think is a well done base lager. Good job guys.

Healthy and loud pop of the cork. Served in a stange. Orangey amber colored with an off-white two inch head that lingers long.

Aroma of grainy malt, some corn and florals. Rich favors of maltiness, toasty and biscuity. Well-balanced smoke and malt, faint hint of clove in the finish. Some phenolic notes, slightly band-aidy, but not overly so and just right for the style. Rich and full and creamy mouthfeel. Excellent beer, great representation of the style.

Poured from the 750 mL bottle into a stein.

A big head results from the pour and a good-looking, copper-colored liquid flows with a bubbly carbonation. The pale, fluggy white head is persistent, probably spurred on by the constant effervescent sensation taking place beneath.

Having recently had Schlenkerla's Marzen, I notice they two have the smoked ham aroma in common. This beer, however, seems a much fainter, tame version. It's still smokey and reminiscent of a campfire, but one that was doused last night. There is a heavy woodiness, maybe cedar, and a hint of a spice I can't put my finger on. I don't detect much as far as malts, although there's a hint of sweetness. I shouldn't sound so demeaning, because this beer actually smells tasty.

Speaking of tasty, I get a bit of a chocolate flavor here. There's still smoked ham, still a lot of smokiness, but I get something sweeter, maybe even some vanilla too.

Tinder's pretty easy to drink, but the body still has some thickness to it. I'm actually quite impressed. I think this is a close to impeccable effort at the rauchbier style. Ultimately, I'd have to decide which is the cheaper of the two between this and Schlenkerla.
