A: A medium-dark copper ale with excellent clarity and a creamy tan head that leaves lacing on the glass.

S: A malty aroma with a light nuttiness, some yeast, fruit-like aromas of grape and raisin. Very little hops.

T: Malt carries the flavor with a light caramel but is pretty dry and against the moderate hop bitterness with balance is towards bitter. There is a light earthy and lemon hops flavor. There is an English character to the yeast with a mild fruitiness and a faint diacetyl. The finish is off dry with a light fruity aftertaste.

M: A medium-light bodied beer with a medium level of carbonation.

O: A dry English Brown makes it so much more enjoyable for me than the typical somewhat sweet versions I usually find. A flavorful beer at only 4 make this one down right sessionable.

Received from Wasatch a little while back...Thanks...

Has a nice clear brown, caramel colored body. Small just off-white head that stays around. Some nice lace on the glass as well.

Has a nutty aroma with some chocolate hints and some caramel and biscuity malts underneath. A bit of earthy and grassy hops. Pretty nice aroma.

Taste is nutty again with some toasted malts. Simple flavor, tastes a bit watered down.

Thinnish mouthfeel, medium carbonation is just right to make it quaffable. Overall a good beer, easy drinking for sure...

Poured a nice reddish brown with a one finger off-white head. It looks like a good brown ale, quite nice, very true to the style. Scents of caramel malt, brown bread, nutty aromas, and some slight brown sugar. A very nice, simple, true to style aroma. Taste is also true to style. It begins and finishes nutty, with a bit a bready flavor in the middle, slight toffee sweetness, toasty malt, slight roast malt, a bit of yeast flavors, and a nice moderate level of herbal hops, about on point for a brown ale. The finish is a bit dry. Overall it's pretty good, with more of the roasted, toasted, herbal hops and nuttiness than sweetness, which makes it my preferred type of brown ale. Mouthfeel is light bodied, slightly watery, lightly carbonated and very easy to drink. It's definitely got the session mouthfeel. Overall it's a good brown ale, at a nice price point. It's not the best brown ale I've had, but it's got a good flavor profile, lacking the sweetness of some other brown ales which makes it good in my book.

A - clear caramel amber with a large, thick, off white, brownish head that has great retention

S - grainy, some faint caramel, some very faint toffee

T - grainy up front with a faint bitterness followed by some caramel, a light nuttiness, and some toffee and then it finishes with a faint coffee-like roasted malt note

M - medium bodied though at times thin, well carbonated, a bit dry

This isn't a bad beer by any means, but it does have a few notes that detract from the overall experience. The grainy notes are too forward with too little malt backbone to correct it. The overall flavor is there but it's a bit subdued. The mouthfeel is also a bit light. If you like brown ales you'll probably still want to give it a try because at 4% this could be a new session ale for you.

Review dated 1/9/2009.

A pretty average brown ale. I guess it’s tough to do much with Utah liquor laws. Pours a dirt brown with a tan head. Aroma dominated by nuts. Flavor is fairly malty with nuts and earth. A little watery on the finish, but hey, it’s 4%.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Bottled on 9-9-2011.

Perfectly clear deep brown color. About 2 fingers of head that sticks around, leaves some lacing on the side of the glass as it falls.

Smell is faint, and is all malt and grain. No hops to speak of.

Taste isn't exactly sweet, but there is a maltiness to it. Hop flavor is limited to bitterness - there's nothing floral or citrusy here. More bitter than I'd like, especially in the aftertaste. Speaking of aftertaste, it lasts a looong time.

Medium mouthfeel. Maybe too much carbonation, which adds to the bitterness slightly.

Overall, this is not an awful beer, but it's not one I'd recommend. There are too many better options out there.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. has a dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, a bit nutty. Taste is toasted malts, hops are in the mix, a bit of nuts as well, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

single bottle from SLC

a: deep nutshell brown in color, capped with a khaki head that shows good retention

s: biscuity pale malt structure with a full dose of toasted nuts and lightly roasted grain, the clean backbone holds up the nuts well, earthy hops

m: carbonation smooth, light-medium, body lighter

t: a body of dry, crackery pale malts, lightly toasted nuts, woody nutshell, simple earthy hop flavors, finishes dry with a mild bitterness

o: not complex but I dig the nutty aromas, clean and drinkable, fine
