Thanks to Wasatch for another Utah brew.

A: Sort of a saffron color with plum highlights. Head is wispy at best an auburn hint to it.

S: Caramel, dirty hops and a little orange.

T: Begins with watered down caramel on the tip of the tongue. Like most of the Utah beers, its very minerally. This one is dry with a low level bitterness to it. Finishes with a touch of marionberry and unrefined malts.

M: Thin body, hard mouthfeel.

D: Not bad. A little boring. Oh well.

this is once again called cutthroat, at least on the label in the stores and on the draft list i ordered it from, a pretty old school recipe here, amber in color, malt forward, and with more hop bitterness than either aroma or flavor, almost too balanced in that sort of generic sense, unexciting, although well enough made, i was not disappointed, but i was not stoked either, just a beer, and certainly not a highlight in their lineup, at least in my opinion. not a ton of head on it either, looks a little lazy in the shaker pint, deep copper tones with some shine on it, and a few stray bubbles rising up. it smells and tastes like a little bit of a caramelized malt thing, with some sweetness running through it, sort of autumnal and warm, and covering up what i think are the best part of the hops. instead i get a little bitter bite out of it, but not much else, maybe a hint of grapefruit peel in the mix, but almost overly malty, even by old school standards. the body though remains pretty light to drink, this isnt real filling or anything, and there is a little more carbonation than it shows in the glass, so it goes down easy enough. hard to get too jazzed up about a beer like this, but it is objectively solid in terms of quality. it just tastes like a million other pale ales ready to be forgotten by time...

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance - The beer is served a light amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades fast to leave a trace of la e on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma of the brew is strongest of a caramel smell with a touch of bread. That pretty much sums it up.
Taste The taste begins with a bready and caramel taste that has a little bit of grass and herb. Along with these tastes comes a little bit of hay and toast, leaving one with a light and slightly toasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-. The body of the brew is light and thinner with a carbonation level that is moderate. Overall ok and easy drinking for the low abv and light flavor.
Overall - Nothing all that great. Not bad, but not good as well. Just OK...

Pours medium dark amber, thick stubborn head
The smell is thick of malt, hops in the background
Taste is a darkish sweet malt, hops mellowly complementing it.

This pours a caramel-tinged color with an inch thick cap of foam. The foam lingers far longer than it has any reason to. Mildly grassy aroma, slight hop bite. Easy middle-of-the-road drinker here.

Utah's flagship beer. Not too hoppy, but certainly enough of a hop bite to count as a pale ale still. It's a little bit on the maltier/sweeter side for a pale ale. It's got a definite caramel flavor to it, and it's a golden amber in color. Body is on the thin side, but not significantly thin. Highly drinkable. A solid pale ale that's still certainly worth checking out if you can find it, especially if you happen to be in Utah.

Known as Cutthroat Pale Ale within Utah.
