12 oz. Bottle dated 11/04/11. Picked up as a random single. Poured into a SA perfect pint glass. Served at cellar temp (53 degrees).
A- Pours a deep transparent amber hue from bottle that sits a great red shade in the glass when held to the light. A light foamy khaki head forms and leaves good lacing.
S- Very light fruity hops and bready sweetness upfront. Some candied fig, brown sugar. Pretty sweet aroma overall.
T- Bready and sugary malts, caramel, some light spice and earth from the hops. The there is some bitterness but it is rather restrained. Some alcohol detected in finish. The flavors aren't exactly melding together well.
M- Pretty thick & creamy body for a beer of this size and style. Flavors linger well. Feel is quite rounded. Stays moist on palate.
O- A pretty malt heavy barelywine. I understand that much of the aroma and some of the flavor hops have faded by now, but still should have more hop presence. Not a bad drink, perhaps I just tried it while it was beginning its transition to a elegant Aged Barelywine of sorts. Suggest waiting a few more months if you still have this brew.
