Nothing special about this one. Poured a golden color with a reasonable head that left rather quickly after the beer settled. Some citrus aromas that carried into the flavors with mild bitterness. Taste and overall impression was ok ... just nothing that stands out that would make me go back and revisit this one.

12 oz. bottle, listed as Hoodoo, but according to the other site it's the same beer,

A: Pours gold with a medium white head. Good retention and lace.

S: Sweet malt, husky grain, with a hint of citrus.

T: Direct malt flavour with some white grape and a hint of lemon. Semi-sweet.

M: Light-bodied, crisp and smooth, easy going on the palate.

O: This is a pretty good summer beer. Crisp and very clean, good flavours. I quite liked it.

12oz bottle into SA perfect pint. Thanks to mjyoung for sharing. Bottled 4/28/11.
A: Pours a dark yellow/light gold with a big, fluffy, dense, bright white head that slowly faded into a thick rocky film. The head faded into a thick fuzzy film and had great retention and left a good amount of lacing down the glass.
S: Clean and sweet notes of lightly toasted grains and maybe a bit of peppery, earthy, spice.
T: Follows the nose. Grainy lager flavors are sweet and almost fruity. I get a touch of banana in the finish and maybe honey. The aftertaste has a touch of minerals and is quick and easy.
M: Soft carbonation with a slick mouthfeel and light body that has a bit of heft to it.
O: I’ve only had a few beers of this style but this one is not the best I’ve had. It’s good though, and definitely easy and refreshing. Thanks Matt!

An unremarkable pour. Clear, golden, little to no head.
The first thing I pick up on in terms of the aroma is the yeast. Not overpowering as some citrus from the hops also comes through. After a couple whiffs, you start to get some of that vinious, grippy aroma that is associated with this style.
The taste is spot on in my opinion. A tremendous balance of hops and yeast. Up front, you get some biscuity, bready flavors. This quickly gives way to some bitterness that allows this to finish perfectly.
This brew has a decent amount of carbonation and is medium bodied. Really smooth and crisp finish.

The taste, smoothness and relatively low abv make this a great session beer.

Says "Solstice" on the bottle but not specifically summer solstice. A Kolsch style beer that comes in a brown bottle. Brewed date of 10/26/10 and consumed on 01/08/11.
A - pretty average all around: yellow/gold, mild haze, very few bubbles, one finger head, no stickiness, little lace.
S - mild citrus, grain, yeast.
T - grain, corn, yeast, mild hops. Tastes like a European Lager in a green bottle but less skunky.
M & D - dry, a little skunky and bitter. Average in general.
When reading about what a Kolsch historically tastes like, this just doesn't seem to fit the profile. Grapey and hops were not very noticeable at all.

Good to see some brews rolling out of SLC, I remember way back when Squatters was the only game in town and a growler was a jug of gold! This one arrived at my door, courtesy of BOTMC, lets give it a whirl. Popping the top I get a classic Thai peanut sauce smell, with the earthiness of noble hops and a very dry flat malting. Pours into a glass with a light golden color with a creamy micro-bubble head. The first thing to hit you on sipping this brew is the mouthfeel, very creamy and smooth, outstanding for this style. The flavor is consistently sweet but dry malt with a very subdued hopping that is earthy and not at all bitter excepting the twinge on the aftertaste. This is a very tasty brew and for the style is hearty and spot on. An extremely smooth drinker, again excellent for the style. Beer with this flavor and heartiness with a ABV of 4%!, bring it on.

A - Nice straw yellow with a decent size head and some lacing. Very low carbonation and has some "stuff" floating around in it.

S - Light sweet malt, almost has a corn pop type aroma, quite pleasant actually.

T - Unfortunately the pleasant sweet malt and corn aroma is a little too forward in the flavor and starts to just resemble DMS. Still pleasing, but could be better.

M - Light bodied beer that could use a cleaner finish.

D - Light and refreshing, wouldn't disappoint on a hot summer day. Would reach for something a little more flavorful though if given a choice.

Got this from BotMC. I really liked this beer for what it is - a light summer ale. Very drinkable, nice taste. Refreshing.

A: Probably it's weakest attribute - pours an unimpressive yellow/gold - very little head which fades instantly.

S: Minimal smell, possibly related to having minimal head.

T: Nice & refreshing pale summer ale. Initial sweetness. Light taste. Very nice for summer.

M: Crisp.

D: Exceptionally easy drinking.

I really like this beer. Not generally into lighter beers, but (for what it is) I liked this one a lot. No metalic taste, easy drinking.

I was plesantly surprised after the rather disappointing "King's Peak Porter" from the same brewer.

Got this in a BotM club shipment.

Poured into a tulip pint: Pale straw, transparent with just a slight haze & a finger of creamy, whipped white head. Loads of tiny, fast nucleation. Leaving lacing in a big sheet.

Smells of clean, light grain, hay, & that musty smell I get in so many light German styles. Very subtle spritz of citrus, a little Bran flakes.

Taste is light & bitter at first, followed by a moderate but dominant bread crust, thinning out & getting lightly citric & a little metallic. Ends crisp, dry, & a tad fruity again.

Light-bodied with a little more body mid-mouthful, crisp without being tingly or sharp.

Even for a light, drinkable style, I can think of plenty in this bracket I'd rather have. Nothing great & some minor drawbacks, still decent.
