Trader Session IPA pours to a golden/amber hue with a small head of foam. The beer is fragrant, with scents of floral and citrus. Based on appearance alone, it seems like an agreeable IPA and one that keeps its assertiveness in check.

Tasting this beer, it looks like the first impression was accurate. It has a milder flavor than your typical, hoppy IPA, but is still every much the session IPA it claims to be. Flavors of citrus, mostly grapefruit, are dominant. But the malty component holds its own, imparting a bread/biscuit taste. The beer leans in a bitter direction, but it is actually rather mild for a beer of this style.

Uinta beers are known for their lower alcohol content and Trader Session IPA certainly follows in these footsteps. It is far less alcoholic than the average IPA and the body is lighter and less bitter. I like that this beer doesn’t reach the level of wateriness, but I also admit that I would like it better if it had a little more body. Still, it’s a good product for what it is and it’s certainly worthy of a try.

Clear, yellow-caramel color. Small white head on the pour. Reduced to a thin layer with a ring around the glass. The remaining bubbles clump together like pitrie (sp?) dish growth.

Aroma is sweet, yeast roll with citrus and floral hops. Some grapefruit comes through, a bit of straw as well. Has a strange twang underneath which I can't identify. Simple, non-offense. Not that bad really.

Flavor is mostly malts, biscuit mainly. Hops are more earthy and grassy. Not much bitterness, more on the level of a basic pale ale. Hard to describe more than that. Simple flavor, not really all that complex.

Thinnish mouthfeel. Good carbonation levels. Flavor holds on for a bit after the swallow, then goes away.

Okay drinkability, kinda weak overall in a lot of departments, but for a 4% beer I think this probably holds its own. I'd drink this if I was in Utah.

12 oz bottle, bottled on 4/14/08. Pours a clear golden orange with a large fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass a little.

The aroma is peppery, grassy hops with a little mint.

The flavor is some corny malts and vegetables with a decent slightly minty bitterness. The mouthfeel is light bodied and watery.

Overall, an OK IPA.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.

The beer ours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is full of grassy hops and some bready malt. Not as hoppy smelling as I expect from an American IPA. The flavor is basically the same, with a lot of grass and citrus. However, I also get some orange citrus notes, but they are well hidden. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A clear dark yellow pour. The aroma is different, can't put my finger on it, sorry, but its just different. I don't know how to describe a British traditional style smell. But this is what it is.

Taste especially, very British, restrained, a little fruity yeast aspect. Didn't do anything special for me afterwards, got thinner. Kinda pricey for something so sessionable. Lots of variation in the six bottles I had. One was downright putrid.

12 oz can into a nonic.

Pours clear and golden with a good sized off-white head. The head is durable and leaves plenty of lacing.

Aroma: surprisingly strong aroma of piney-floral-fruity hops.

Flavor: satisfying and well balanced, with less hop flavor than the aroma or IPA labelling suggest ... and more bready malts.

O: an aromatic, low ABV, APA (not a typo).

Uinta- Trader IPA

A- Light copper orange with a moderate foamy head. Slight lacing nothing heavy.
S- Light touch of caramel malt pokes its way out of a nice bouquet of sweet pine and floral hops.
T- Sweet pine and earthy green hops with a nice touch of caramel malt.
M- Again sweet, but not overpowering. Hoppy body with light malt in the tail end, slightly watery.

Overall- Flavors tend to be a little subdued, its flavor and mouthfeel just couldn't push it up to a 4(good) rating. Regardless, tasty session beer here.

Pours an effervescent honey color with 3+ fingers of fluffy cream colored head. Great head retention & lacing

S: Grapefruit & lemon hops, plus honey malt

T: Citrussy hops up front, along with slight honey malt & metallic hops. Slight grainyness as this warms with more lemony hops. Finishes fairly crisp with some lemony hops. Almost pulled a 4.0

MF: Light/medium bodied with softness & good balance

Not a great IPA, but one you could sure session on, I think the lack of malt depth would get old after a while

Not a lot of aroma but a good choice of you want a session brew at a better price point than stone. I'd buy it again to mix things up.
