Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  9.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character.

The beer comes in a crystal clear light ruby and dark reddish amber.

The aroma has huge overly sweet citrus and tropical pineapple, orange, peaches, dried apricot and mango along with a big resinous pine. Some green piney dankness. Some sweet bready malt.

In the front, again those hugely sweet tropical pineapple, mango, peaches, orange peel. A huge sugary sweetness with a bready malt backbone. A very clean experience. There’s a medium amount of alcohol in the back. With not much bitterness other than some spicy pine and green leaf qualities.

This beer drinks extremely clean despite the sweetness behind this beer. It reminds me of Enjoy By and a lower ABV Hi-Res. A highly underrated brew. Check this out!

A - Hazy gold, 1 1/2 fingers off white head. Good lacing.

S - Piney, spicy hops. Strong malt backbone. Light caramel.

T - Citrus hops, malty sweetness, spice, heavy bitterness. A little bit boozy.

M - Thick mouthfeel. Coats the palate. Medium carb,

O - A solid double IPA. A little on the heavy side at 9.5%. The alcohol is relatively well-hidden.
Enjoyable, but probably not something I'd seek out again.

A little malt in the nose.
Taste: Strong hops up front. Very piney and resinous. Fairly well balanced with the malts without being too sweet.
Long lasting pine resin finish with a little sweetness.
Overall true to their regular 'Hop Notch" IPA, but with beefed up characteristics.
Bought as 4 pack for~$10; potential repeat buy.
