Poured from a bottle into an IPA glass.
A: Pours a deep mahogany brown; near black. Forms a thick head that curdles away as it settles. Sets down chunkier than most IPAs I've seen. Foamy and bubbly
S: Smells like a perfect balance of sweet earthiness and forest. Hints of dark chocolate and earth lay under a green sweetness. Beautiful.
T: Stronger taste than smell. Dark full flavor of mildly bitter and earthy grain, with cacao notes that very subtly play with the tongue; dancing with the hop bitterness in a not so standard way that is quite enjoyable. The hemp (which I could not detect all that much in the smell) is mildly present in the taste- giving it the earthy flavor that is distinctive in my mind from many other beers - especially those with this same porteresque base flavor palate.
M: A bit heavy, but completely enjoyable. Mildly sweet and bitter at once, in an impressively balanced way that makes you want to just hold the sip in your mouth for eternity. In comparison to some other strong IPAs, the mouthfeel is bold but not overwhelmingly so- this beer doesn't try to destroy your mouth. For its ABV, this is a dangerously drinkable beer.
O: This is an extremely enjoyable imperial black IPA. In all aspects, this beer is pleasing, balanced, simple, and still interesting. I really have zero complaints. Must try!!
