12 oz bottle at about fridge temp poured into a snifter. Best before 12/1/13.

Pours nearly black, but shows some ruby, brown colors in the light. A huge, billowy light tan colored head from the pour, took a few tries to get the whole bottle in the glass. Shows great lacing and head retention.

A nice melding of hops and malts in the aroma, caramel, toasted, evergreen pine, a bit of mint, grapefruit citrus is there as well. Becomes just a bit warming as the beer itself warms but in no way boozey.

Very nice taste, again all the flavors meld together to make for a really tasty, smooth beer. Sticky caramel, lots of toasted and lightly roasted malts, evergreen pine, citrus, a bit floral, lots of resins. Maybe picking up a touch of that hemp seed in the finish, its hard to tell.

Great sticky, resiny mouthfeel, very bitter finish, only slightly warming, but full bodied for sure.

One of the better black IPAs I've had and its really a style I'm not super fond of, but I'd buy this again.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- Very deep brown (near black) with a 1/2" inch creamy brown head. Lacing spatters around the glass.

S- Rich malty caramel, and lots of roast. Hop jumps in with a heavy pine character.

T- Coffee infused with pine needles. Very rich.

M- Pretty creamy, and a little sticky. Bitter dry finish.

O- This style is working its way up my ladder. This, I believe, is a great example of a Cascadian Dark.

A: Black with a decent sized lightly tanned head.

S: Roast with a lot of hops upon initial smelling. Sweet caramel, coffee, herbal hops. a touch of citrus. Very dark malt in here. Very interesting smell.

T: Lots of chocolate with a big hit of roast. Very bready. Middle of the mouth it suddenly turns into an ipa. Big dry bitter finish. caramel. lots of acid intermingling with pine. There is a presence of alcohol on the end.

M: Medium bodied, like a porter. Nice dry bitter pine finish that soon turns into a coffee finish as it lingers. and trust me, it lingers!

O: A mix of a porter and an ipa. Its a very deep brew. lots going on here but it is a very enjoyable drink. /90

Uinta Dubhe

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint.

Appearance: Basically black ale with a nice dark brown head. Head stuck around for a minute or two, left a lacing. 4/5

Smell: Not getting a whole lot from this bottle, earthy dark malts and pine-y hops are hinted. 3.5/5

Taste: Pine-y hops mixed with a nice earthy dark ale. Pretty good, big flavor. Not too much alcohol in the flavor for the ABV. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly creamy, appropriate carbonation. 4.25/5

Tasty beer with plenty of flavor. 4/5
