Uinta's Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin, aged in oak barrels. 10.31% ABV.

Appearance: Nice pop from the cork, and a nice haze from the bottle. Damn! TONS of foam. Atleast three fingers, but I got some pour over and had to suck some up, so probably more in the range of 4-5 fingers. Thick head. Nice lacing. Red-amber. Plenty of tiny rising bubbles inside the glass.

Smell: Slight creamy pumpkin scent. Very slight nutmeg note.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Nice blend of pumpkin and deeply caramelized malt/sappy molasses, coming out the charred side of toffee. Perhaps charred toast.

A new approach to pumpkin ales, for me, but not among my favorites.

Poured from a 750mL bottle, into a Petrus chalice.

Poured from a cork and cage into a snifter, the beer is a vibrant, dark, ruby-orange coloring with a tall, frothy, creamy, off-white head. Aromas of pumpkin, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and booze. Heavy nose. Flavors are rich and spiced forward, with pumpkin heaviness and boozy highlights. Wow, this is rich and robust. After the blast of heaping pumpkin, there is a spice blend build that cuts all the rich layers to provide some levity. The palate actually lightens rapidly after all that initial massiveness, leading into a mostly balanced sweet, rich, and spicy pumpkin bread aftertaste, with booze and vanilla overtones. The body is robust, slick, and heavy. Slick, lingering spice finish. This beer is massive.

From the corked caged 750 ml. bottle. Sampled on November 8, 2013.

It is a handsome looking beer with its slightly cloudy, dark amber tone that also glistens slightly red in the light. Decent beige head that fades to a ring.

Loads of aroma but not necessarily the pumpkin spice kind. I get dark malts, licorice, some nutmeg and cinnamon, black licorice, butterscotch, and a little booze or perhaps that's the oak barrel ester.

The body is medium to bold.

The taste is definitely strong with more of a pumpkin spice character than the nose implies with a definite dark malt and licorice feel too. It does make my head spin a little so take this one easy. One I will remember.

A - Good looking beer, poured dark with a thick head.

S - Heavy on the oak and smokeyness as well a hint of pumpkin and spice

T - I tasted heavy oak and smoke, the pumpking was there, but not like a schlafly.

M - For the alcohol content, the mouthfeel was pleasant, not something to have multiple of, something to relax over.

O - Decent use of pumpkin and oak together, probably my favorite oak pumpkin ale.
